RULING: going nude through TIm Hortons drive-thru is against the law!

I have followed this story with interest. A man driving nude through a Muskoka drive-thru: twice: Tim Hortons and A & W.
The court has finally come down with a judgement: GUILTY! I am relieved.

You don't need to read it all, to determine that this is arrogant. Just read the news headlines!
I am so happy that the judge has ruled this way. For young kids to be exposed to naked men in public is really shocking. This is a win for the public.

I wonder why a famous lawyer, Clayton Ruby, defending a case feels the need to write a Letter to the editor: There's no harm in nudity ?

I believe that we cannot determine the intent of Coldin's actions. Walking around his property nude, while he was in a park, is a slippery slope. There are sexual innuendos here. He and his 3 male buddies, went through the drive-through nude. What's with this? As a woman, dealing with the fear of walking about alone in the dark, I could easily feel scared. As a child I remember walking through a Toronto park, shortcut on the way home from school, and seeing a flasher, or seeing a man sitting in his car on a downtown Toronto street, flashing his penis for me, a youngster at the time. Those were sick people. Can we imagine that this man is any more sane?

Corbett said she knew Coldin from previous business dealings, and gave the men their order, along with some stern advice. “I handed him his coffee and told him to cover up the next time he comes through or he wouldn’t receive any service,” said Corbett. “He half-smiled at me and drove away with his coffee.”

According to media reports from the trial’s opening day, a woman working at the Bracebridge A&W drive-thru testified seeing Coldin and two other naked men drive up to her window in the spring of last year. The woman was in tears as she spoke to the court, media reports sai

Another witness told the court Monday he and his family were visiting the High Falls park area when they came across Coldin naked. The man said he took a photo of Coldin to show to the authorities, and Coldin demanded it be deleted. The stressful encounter made his young children cry, he testified.

High Falls Chalet Inn owner Brian Coldin has been found guilty of criminally harassing a Bracebridge OPP officer.

He DID offend the young women. If they were my daughters working at the drive-through, I'd be fighting this issue tooth and nail. This is why I write this post. If he wants to change the law, do it with dignity. If Clayton Ruby, high-priced civil rights lawyer, wants to change the law then do it politically, not through the newspaper or defending someone with court-documented socially unacceptable behaviours, and do it without offense.

If Coldin feels the need to expose himself to a young woman in the drive through, could he also feel the need to expose himself to younger children?
If he felt the need to be threatening and violent with the public, what else would he do in the presence of a young woman? This is about power and control.

Yes, I may have gymnophobia, as one commenter accused, but it is tied more to my fear of sex and violence, especially with the latest crime story of theRussell Williams case. He used his hands, fists, and penis for the purpose of violence and control. Until we can separate paraphilia from nudity, I reserve the right to choose which penises I want to view!

As a mother, grandmother, retired teacher, I am appalled. This case is more than just public nudity.

He was threatening neighbours (see Town Without Pity: the W5 YouTube video, part 2, part 3), and local plumbers, trying to access other cottages on a deeded road access. Things escalated in 2005. I can see how the anger by all would result in this frustrations. But it would appear that these are self-inflicted wounds.

According to Crown attorney Frank Giordano, Coldin raced after the men on an ATV and cut them off after passing at a high rate of speed, which should lead to a conviction on dangerous driving, he argued.

Other news reports...his photos makes him look so sweet! Biased media...

Yet, he's been violent, or threatened violence, with plumbers and OPP.

Court heard that police eventually arrived at the scene after Coldin had climbed into an excavator and threatened to remove the vehicle of the three men. OPP officers who attended the scene also testified that they felt threatened by Coldin in the excavator when they arrived. Coldin eventually exited the vehicle after removing his clothes, and a struggle ensued before Coldin was arrested.

In Muskoka, a man who is an avowed nudist has been getting in trouble with the law. It is one thing to prance around your own property flaunting your wanker, but he was boldly walking on a bridge, and on his cell phone in a park, shocking a cute young thing. I posted a comment on the news story, as I was afraid that the right to go nude was precluding the rights of women to NOT see a penis in public!

'Shock, tears' = socially unacceptable behaviour

I am surprised at the arrogance of someone who wants to strut his stuff in public, and through drive-throughs. The fact is that this is a socially unacceptable act. I have no desire to see a strange man's penis. We need to protect those living and playing in Muskoka from this man who wants to play with his toys in public. Shame. There are enough places to go nude without upsetting women.

Then, he ended up going in his car, with 3 friends, through a drive-through. What are they thinking? If one wacko does thing, OK. But when you choose to do it with friends? Totally shocked the young ladies working the headphones behind the window. I wonder when and where he will stop?

I recall a man doing this in Toronto, in a park near where I lived. In those days, when dinosaurs roamed the earth, we had no fears of walking in the city alone. Another time, when I was, perhaps 10, a man sitting in his car near our corner city store, holding up his penis for me to see as I walked by. This is not normal. But I recall the fear, and feeling guilt, as if it was my fault. Is this not bizarre? I told a friend, but not my parents. I didn't have the language.

Such socially unacceptable, sexual actions and behaviours must be recognized as dangerous, and scary to those who witness it. It can escalate, as those who talk about child porn tell us. They need increasingly complex acts to get off on it. Much is focused on Internet Safety, but we still need to educate the public about F2F activities like this.

The remoteness of rural Ontario lends itself to danger. Be careful out there.
