Heckuva storm!

Sunday, Jan. 14th

Just when you think winter will never come...  😏 The Lake Effect Snow on Sunday was amazing. You can see it clearly on the map, as the winds whip across the Great Lakes. We had a dusting of snow Sunday. Not nearly so much fun as Saturday! 😼

⛄ Saturday, Jan. 13

We had 25 cm around the house on Saturday, but on the driveway: 33 cm. While I did the driveway, it kept flipping back from rain to snow, and back again. We had 2 mm rain on top of the snow.

If I were motivated, I'd get some sweet photos. I had work to do, though.

Out the kitchen window the trees were droopy, and deer and the turkey were back. Also, there was rain freezing on the window. I knew I'd best get out and shovel tout-de-suite.

I stopped here, running out of energy. Plus, it began to rain. I figured I'd best work on the driveway. By the time I returned to it, we'd had more snow!

Prince Edward County lost power. We were fine, though.

Kingston had thundershowers, Jan. 13, 2:00 pm! Someone commented online, checking the radar, sure enough!
Balmy Victoria, B.C., had some cold temperatures. This is unusual.

I was wiped right out! And drenched in sweat. A long shower did the trick. I put up my feet, too.

Yes, more snow. However, indoors it is bright and cheery. Except, the Amaryllis fell over. I leaned it over the rabbit pot, with the paperwhites, having swept up the dirt that fell out. I ended up using some long matchsticks to prop it up. That worked.

...lake effect is an amazing thing. It hasn't kicked in for us yet! Take care and be warm and well.

My theory is that we are relatively safe from outages after so much of the infrastructure being replaces after the derecho. Perhaps it is more of a wish than anything. 🙂

We're sub-zero again today - and again with the blue skies and not a jot of the white stuff. I wonder if we'll get the tail whip across the pond as once could be relied upon? YAM xx

We're due for the snow/rain mix sometime today, but most radar forecasts have it barely coming here...we shall see. Glad you were able to do a bit to combat the terrible white slippery stuff where you must walk/drive.

We had some thunder and lightning here too. The rain melted most of the bit of snow we got.

Whoops, thanks for reminding me to take care of my plant too. I did notice it is getting really top heavy.
We didn't get the wet stuff, just a LOT of snow. I tromped through knee deep snow to collect my trail cameras. Once it warms up some I'm going to put the snow shoes on and find new locations. Not getting much (crows, bluejays) where they were.

We got some too, but far less than predicted, only about five or six inches. It's bloody cold, though! Take care when you're out there working.

You forgot to compare yourself with the prairies. How cold were you?

Jenn - thanks for your visit to my blog! Yes, winter finally arrived, and with a vengeance. We went from barely any snow on the ground to nearly a foot, accompanied by the bitterly cold temperatures. Being at "0" today actually felt warm by comparison. More snow on its way later this week! Take care of yourself - many people have heart attacks from shoveling snow!
