There were some power outages, like Pembroke, but we were still OK.
When it climbed to 12,000 without power, I made a fire! I think this was a blip, though! It went back down to 7000 in a few minutes. It did spook me, though. Jan. 5th, 1998, was our big power outage in the region.
The snow kept falling, back and front.
The sound of the icy tree branches clacking their branches in the wind was creepy.

Our Ottawa kids wisely shoveled after dinner. I wish I could have. I was having chills, and thought it best to stay indoors. In hindsight...
Out I went, wearing a lovely neck warmer, sent to me by Jean! I have depended upon them. She is a kind woman.
Poor critters in the falling snow.Instead, I played games!!!
This was dusk. This is when I should have done the driveway! Oh well. There is another storm coming Thursday, or Friday-ish. I'll have another chance! 😝At 6 a.m. I woke up, anxious to see what was what. Lots of snow. It had 18 cm of snow, upon which 18mm rain fell. I did the back deck, and realized this was only going to get heavier and slushier.
The slush mucks up the chute, and the auger cannot move the snowy slush. I had to be careful. It's a great machine, but to turn, you put on one brake. That doesn't work if the one wheel is sliding on the ice! I persevered. JB brought me water in the garage, and suggested I take a break, but I couldn't face it later. Beside, it was only going to go from 1 C. up to 5 C., and it would get worse as it melted and got heavier.
The first photo shows what happens when the snowplough goes by. A lovely bank of snow that would freeze there if I didn't move it.

Stay safe and warm Jenn! We have a few more months to go!
I'm very impressed with your athleticism in snow removal! What back muscles you must have, not to mention your arms/shoulders! I just couldn't have done all that even in my 50s...but maybe in my 40s. I looked out at a white scene when I woke up this morning, but it was just heavy frost. Sun is out and melting will start!
What a mess. We ended up getting almost all rain and a sprinkle of snow that soon was gone.
I agree that heavy, mushy snow is the worst.
The contractor did what needed to be done here. Sue did our short walkway.
Times four makes it look so easy, guess it's hard and sweaty work. If there is more coming you were very wise to get the path done and a track cleared. The snow machine, can you swivel the shute from one side to the other? You neck warmers must be due for some new ones soon, I'll see if Grandson can bring some over in July ?????Local postage will be faster .
That looks like very hard and heavy work.
Poor critters indeed - and poor people too.
Wow! Our high is in the 60sF today, but we're expecting lows in the single digits and snow next week. Not that I believe them lol They seem to panic early and then back off the snow predictions as we get closer to time.
Did I ever tell you that I hate wet snow? we get very little wet snow. We don't get nearly as much snow as you do. But today it was minus 31 with a wind. I didn't shovel!
Gostei do seu blog. Muito bonito.
