Walkies with Cinnamon

It was cold, but Cinnamon wanted walkies. The Dratted Red Squirrel (DRS) was teasing the cats on the front porch! There is so much to see in the forest. DRS was up in the trees yelling at Cinnamon to stay away.

As we headed for the trailcam and the frogpond, there were 4 deer running around the pond. You'll have to click on them to enlarge them, if you like. The deer are so well camouflaged. They stood there, watching Cinnamon.

The deer ran to the far side of the pond, watching us carefully. They are afraid of Cinnamon, but headed back around the pond to the house!

We walked around the pond to the dock. The ice is about 3 cm thick, which holds Cinnamon.

Wait for me! He roared through the cedar tree aisle, running to keep up with me.

From there we went back up the hill, and to the back 40. He wasn't quite ready to go back indoors! He did some more ice skating.

The back 40 was quite quiet. He wanted to go out on the ice, but came when I called, 'walkies!'

I noticed these little outcroppings in the ground. We've gone from above zero to below zero quite suddenly overnight. The ice shards reach up like stalagmites. They are quite crunchy to walk on.

I hope you can get outdoors. It really does help the mind, body, spirit!

Oh thank you for the invitation, prompted by Cinnamon. Today! Outdoor walk. It may be above freezing for a few hours, and I'll take it! New winter coat is so far just lovely, and now I'll try its hood too!

You inspire me, out in that cold! I tend to be a wimp, but it would do me good to do some winter walking. The ice is impressive!

Your gloves are so good for a left handed camera person !!! Those shards, sharp on little paws I guess. No wonder they put boots on the huskies on the sled run.

You are so right! Being able to go outside is such an important part of my day. Cinnamon is a really interesting character! How interesting that the deer are afraid of cinnamon! I enjoyed walking about with you too. Thanks so much and have a beautiful day

That's weird. I am sure I already wrote here. Yes, I had to enlarge the deer shot to spot them. Ours are a bit less shy and come out onto the field where they are visibly brown. Why 'red' deer, we sometimes wonder. Our trail cam died a sad, batter failure death ... must replace, I keep thinking but not doing.
I used to walk with a camera; it makes you pay attention, I find. I have one that fits perfectly into my pocket. I also have a fine iPhone and a book that tells me how to,use the camera it has. Must read the book ...I keep taking videos by accident. It has a great lens. What are you using?

Sad that very few people get out doors.

The ice sharpies look dangerous for little kitty toe-beans. Funny how the deer stop for Cinnamon. Not sure the cat would "attack" the deer. Linda in Kansas
