We have power!

As predicted, it is a Snow Day, as they call it. Actually, it is an Ice Day. All the 🚌 busses in our area are cancelled. The same with Ottawa. We have power, which is a good thing. They had to close the Rideau Canal Skateway. Such a shame. People come from around the world to skate it. It is great for tourism.

I'd just gotten the driveway done and cleared after 6 cm snow Wednesday morning.

JB gathered the lanterns, just in case.

I was watching the radar, and in it came. The sidewalk looks like ice. It was supposed to begin with snow, but it was first rain, then ice pellets, then rain. The thermometer is hovering below zero C.and it all froze overnight. I'd prefer snow. You can shovel that! It looked awful last night in the dark...

I am fascinated with the lightning radar. It looks scary in the southern US. The lightning strikes are at 65,900 in one of the sectors.

This was from Tuesday. The red squirrel has created all these tunnels under the snow. You'll have to picture this: the squirrel was down in the hole (you can see it in the foreground), and popped up to scare a Mourning Dove. I laughed!

Who, me?!

A snowy morning Wednesday. First up, the sidewalk.

Next, the driveway:

The oak trees are still hanging onto their leaves. They rustle in the wind.

I made a double batch of spaghetti yesterday. We've leftovers tonight. We won't need to leave the house, as Joseph Brian did shopping after I'd done the driveway. We'll see what it looks like today!

Glad you are cozily inside for a time and the little critters are fed as well.

Hope your elec. stays on, and the ice melts soon. Love seeing the innocent looking squirrel. I saw his cousin outside my door yesterday, very skinny and busy looking for anything buried in the mulch. Poor thing. Our gardens are all full of week killer, and I doubt anything buried would be good at this point. I did talk to him about it.

The ice storms are scary, it is good that had power.
Cute squirrel image. We are having warmer rainy weather today.
Take care, have a great day!

We got fog and then rain and today nothing. It is a strange winter.

Good about the hydro. I am thinking that there was so much renewal after the derecho that the system is probably better than it was.

We hardly got a tich of it. It was snowing lightly when I put the dog out for her bedtime snuffle at 10PM. I heard Hwy 17 was a nightmare last night!

We didn't lose power, for once. Warm, cozy and iced, very much iced, out there.

Laughing. I just noticed the oak tree photo and comment. We have it's twin beside the house. A full set of iced leaves today.

I am glad that you retained power and won't have to brave those slippery roads today.

Always love the snow photos. Great ones here. Enjoyed the story of the squirrel tunnels and that squirrel popping up scaring the dove. Such darling little rascals.

Yikes. Ice is the worst. Please be very careful out there.

The squirrel! hahaha, how industrious that he/she/they made tunnels. Wow you are really in the thick of it.

We had a swamp oak in the back of our house and we were always amazed at how it kept its leaves throughout the winter.

Keeping power in a storm is a joy, isn't it! Y'all got a lot of snow!
