They did say to go out prior to dark. I found that I could darken the images, and they looks just fine.
Now, I debated about curating the photos, and posting a few in several posts, but that's not how I roll. Besides, poor Joseph Brian who was the official driver, wants to see them, as well.
They decorated the pavillion behind City Hall, and it looked pretty.
I began using the SPORTS mode, quick snaps. As the skies darkened, even that didn't work. I tried using AUTOMATIC, and ended up with some fun blurry lights. We'll call them creative! There is such a variety of homes in Perth, established in 1816. There are some huge homes (new and old), bungalows, and two-story, many divided into apartments, with sweet Strawberry Box Houses, dating from the homes the government built for veterans after WW II.
You'll notice our snow is gone. It is a shame. One family has an ice rink ready to go. All we need is consistent cold weather! We Canadians love out winter sports.

Good for you getting out there.
Happy New Year 🎇
Happy New Year to you and all your family.
Your lights seem more subdued than the Christmas Vacation competition that goes on around here -- and that is a high compliment in my view! I am fond of candles in the windows and a wreath on the door kind of decor.
Now that's quite a collection of Holiday Lights! I just think of all the guys and gals who put those lights together. In FL and here, they have lots of blow-up figures. Guess they wouldn't work that well where it can snow and freeze so much...if only.
Happy New Year!
I thought that there fewer lights this year.
It was refreshing to wake up to a new day in a new month in a new year to a clear, sunny cold typical NEW YEARS DAY. We're hoping to get out for a hike.
We did a drive through Eganville a few nights ago just as it was getting dark. The lights were lovely. That little village sure likes to decorate for the seasons. I wonder if they have a contest or something similar?
Thank you for getting out and taking (admirably) these photos of a topic I find difficult.
Happy New Year.
Ooh it got cold. Happy New Year! Glad you got out into town.

Very best wishes to you for the new one! YAM xx
Nice! Depending on your camera, you could have a 2 second delay timer, however I don't like to carry a tripod especially if it is cold outside.
I do have a smartphone that does some pretty darned good night photos, and I have resorted to that to save time.
Looks like it was a beautiful adventure!
I am hoping for snow and cold weather too. I have ice caves to visit!
Photographing Christmas lights is a very difficult thing for me to do. I've just given up using the "big" camera because nowadays the iphone does a lot better job.
That said, I love your Christmas lights.
I'm glad Canadians love winter sports. My mother talked about growing up in Idaho that her mom made her come in when it got to 20F below zero. Mom's Irish blarney plays a role in that story I do believe.
I wish you and your family and loved ones a happy and healty 2024.
hey there. it will be a great 2024. i think it is a fun time of the year, start anew. i am going around changing up my bloggy numbers at the bottom ... from 2023 to 2024. sorry about the no snow ...maybe in January or Feb?? we have had some snow flakes nothing that much though. loL!! take care. enjoy your visits. be well. ( ;
A drive in the cold and we are all rewarded with some lovely photos, lights, and then the temperature!!! Congrats to you both for such perseverance.
You are great. It's not easy to go out at -10℃. I hope you are healthy during this year.
Thanks for the tour! I appreciated the heated car seats too. Linda in Kansas
Happy New Year Jenn. We missed our Christmas Eve drive to look at the lights. It seems this year it was all about the inflatables. I also miss the sunshine
Christmas lights are so magical. Thanks for sharing them all with us.
It looks like people there really got into the spirit. Thanks for posting the houses. I feel like I got a lights tour, and I never did go out to see them :)
Hauoli Makahiki Hou, Jenn! From our house in Hawaii to yours!
Happy New Year! Beautiful lights.
