Canadian Thanksgiving 2017

It's been an interesting Thanksgiving. We flew Jesse in from Vancouver, last-minute. He rented a car and drove in from Ottawa. We had a great visit and a long, long talk, something that's been difficult only using Facetime from across the continent, with his wee Cluny! We took Jess out to dinner at East Meets West on Friday. Jesse stayed over, then went to visit his brother in Ottawa for a couple of days.

Our daughter is hosting her MIL, who arrived on Saturday morning, but they took Saturday to come and do Thanksgiving with us. Jos said, how terrific it was that she was seeing TWO grammas on the same day. She's such a sweetie. We were chatting about treats, I told her what I loved and she said that Me Mére loves Reese's peanut butter cups, too. I said, finally something we have in common! She said that we had wonderful grandkids in common, too! Ha. She's right!

Grampa greeted them at the door this way. Sigh. What a nutbar.

Poor Jl, who is NOT a at person. Who does Annabelle love?! She's there on the chair beside him.

Grampa had bought some 'Close Eyes' some new Lego! Josee put together camping vehicles, Izzy a monster truck of some sort.

JL made all of the dinner: turkey, mashed potatoes, squash. I wasn't feeling up to snuff. Caitlin had prepared the stuffing. We had a good visit.

Isabelle asked for monster juice in the skull. Grampa complied!

Izzy and Josee made up a story, using the new Lego. The camper is amazing, with a BBW, hot dogs, and all. Delicate flower, Isabelle, loved her Chima set. Somehow, the dragon channels his Chi.

Izzy fed fish and tried to catch the elusive frogs.

Saturday morning, Grampa went into town to buy us breakfast: the girls wanted pancakes, we had eggs and bacon. Grampa couldn't have any, but he's very good at figuring out things to help.
Outside for some play, Sunday morning, before they headed home. Caitlin wasn't feeling well, so she had a morning nap. Walkies in the forest ensued. Tree climbing, as well! When she woke up, she was feeling better and they headed home.

JL and the kids went out for some forest fun.I caught them on the trailcam!

Then they headed back to the city, with a stop at the corn maze, then home. A brief, but fun visit.

Holidays are always more fun when someone is wearing a dinosaur mask.

Very good photo of you and Jess! I also like the photo of your hubby (or actually his back) with your grandkid at the round table.
I love turkey meat and mashed potatoes all year round. I make some efforts to limit quantity as potatoes are a factor in gaining weight.

good to have your family around for Thanksgiving. Ours rented a cottage in Bobcaygeon, and we weren't invited!!! Don't worry neither of us are 100% at the moment, so didn't really want to go anyway.

Happy Thanksgiving.

Good times with you're family. It must be terribly quiet when they leave!

It's fun to think how you have Thanksgiving before Halloween and we have it almost a month after. I think I like the idea of having it earlier to spread out the holiday family time instead of having it so close to Christmas.

Hello, looks like fun times with the family at Thanksgiving. The dinosaur mask is cool. I am sure it was great having your son visit and the grandchildren there too. Great photos. Happy Tuesday, enjoy your day!

With no family we decided to treat ourselves to a full turkey and ham dinner at the hotel restaurant in town. The only down side was no leftovers of cold turkey and dressing. - Margy
