National Art Gallery – Alex Colville

Entrance to the exhibit
He's a wonderful artists, Alex Colville (1920 – 2013). You've seen his work, I'm sure. Hubby really wanted to go. We bought a book of his, I saw it in a used book store. I haven't been here in years. I recall seeing the Escher exhibit. That was amazing.

There were many security guards, and the gallery rules state that one can take photos, as long as there is no notice forbidding it. That said, it was amazingly respectful. No one running around, elbowing one another, trying to get photos. (This is what happened when we saw Mona Lisa in Paris. Sigh.)

The building and the ones around, are impressive. I haven't been downtown in ages, either. I find the trips to hospital wear me out! There were so many people, walking, biking, one guy with an artificial sports leg was biking, too! Those Baby Boomers are going to show the younger generations that life is to be enjoyed, and youth not to be mourned!
There were some interesting bikes!

My Achilles was giving me issues, so I sat in the square whilst JB was checking out a store. Lots of interesting people!

The hoards of students on art gallery field trip did NOT creep me out! I was happy to be retired!
The Artissimo Gallery reminds me of the great art display we did one year at Manordale school. The Primary teachers all learned about one artist. They did an activity centre approach, and all exchanged homeroom classes, teaching each of the primary grades about their artist. My gr. 6 students interviewed the teachers and students, using videocamera and created an iMovie. One of my special needs students even interviewed hubby!

Daughter and I have been going to Ottawa for medical appointments too. I hope we can get into the city for a pleasure trip sooner rather than later. I am a HUGE fan of Alex Colville and longing to see the exhibit.....then I'm going outside to give Maman a big hug!
