We had a party!

The kids came over for my birthday, on the 26th! Grampa had a surprise in the basement, he took us down in the dark. There was treasure...

We had spaghetti and meatballs for dinner. Everyone had a hand in it.
So many candles, I needed helpers!

Josee adores our Hooper. He loved the company after being shy for about 5 minutes.

After lunch, three of us went for walkies in the snow. Izzy wore her hat from Topsy Farm.

We found 8 deer beds!

This requires explanation... I kneeled on the chair, leaned forward to better view the birds, and the chair flattened right out. Caitlin and I laughed so hard...

Lovely scarves from Topsy Farms! We took a trip there: Amherst Island, Topsy Farms, where we bought these presents.

Trailcam and deer

The trailcam revealed several deer on the property, which we knew!!!
One did a lovely selfie for me!

What a lovely day!

Being retired, there really aren't any 'holidays!' Every day is a new adventure.

I opened some presents. It seems that 'flat gramma' has a lot of flat presents from the cats! I call myself that, as our granddaughter, Cluny in Vancouver, probably thinks of me that way. We do a lot of Facetime with her, thanks to my son. She opened up the box we sent, including a musical card, while we watched. It was fun.

We sent a caterpillar, and she was wearing butterfly wings, which Santa had sent. So cute!

Hubby bought himself a pot in which to burn his sage. At our age, there are few surprised. This keeps coming up in my newsfeed, too!
I bought him a sweet book, for a man who likes both trains and maps! It's the history of trains over the years.

Still worried about Daisy. Daisy isn't feeling great. I gave her more pain meds, as well as Hooper's eye meds. Maybe she caught an eye infection from him. Her defenses are down. She's only eating a bit of kibble, but is drinking water and doing a bit of grooming. You can see a tear dropping from her eye. It's like pink eye, just in one eye.

Hooper was helpful in the living room. He loved the plastic bag...

The deer were out, too. They are so pretty.

On the deck, the sweetest little toes! Squirrel and birds!

We had another 8 cm, which we cleared. It is so pretty. I love the snow. I love the changes.

The snow clearing we did together. This was good. Someone has been hogging his snowblower! I did the sidewalks and paths.

Just a lovely, lovely day!

Fetching the trailcam SD card is lovely.

Kitties, snow, & Christmas

Sorry if I bore you! I'm missing extended family, and ghosts of fabulous Christmases past, and taking succour in our pets! I miss the students, whose various multi-cultural celebrations enhanced our Decembers.

Merry Christmas to those who celebrate. This is a creche I built back in the day.

All felines are improving. Hooper isn't sneezing as much. Daisy is eating again, not a lot, but enough.
I figured out how to light the Christmas tree...although she's pretty much avoided it since her incident. Our room light has a wee reading light that makes a good spotlight.

Daisy was atop the caterpillar. Hooper was in one of the cubby hole!

He's a busy boy!

Daisy is back to her usual behaviour, sitting outside the bathroom in the morning to jump on Annie's head. Hooper is trying to play with Annabelle. Annabelle doesn't know how to play. We'll see how this goes. She cleaned his ear in the morning, then, when he sneezed in her face in the afternoon, she growled. Then, he snuck up behind her, and she growled, putting a big paw on his forehead to keep him away.

They are amazing nappers! Hooper usually sleeps on JB's neck, during nap time and at night.

I went out and cleaned the birdbath. I had supervisors. I put fresh snow in the birdbath.

(This was after I picked up the last of the fallen wood before Sunday night's snowstorm REALLY buries it!)

Daisy is on the 2nd from top step, Annie on the walk. Then, Annie found a bed.

Can you see me in the Christmas ball?!

She was well enough to go outdoors and chase her tail.

Then, she heard a mouse in the snow. You can hear the mouse squeal! They build tunnels under the snow.
