The days continue to blossom, as we edge into warmer temperatures. We've been chilly, but out west it has been hot and fiery. Thousands of people have been displaced by the fires. They are angry and upset as they are told to evacuate, without farm animals, etc. I cannot imagine. They've interviewed Mayors of cities, and they are getting much abuse from constituents.

🌞Let's celebrate the sunshine. (There is rain on the way!) My tulips continue to bloom, as the garden warms up. The ones near the house were earlier as there is a bit of a microclimate on the south-facing side of the house.
Deer and ticks 🦌
This was an interesting listen! CBC's Quirks and Quarks with Bob McDonald - May 13, 2023: Scientists figured out why deer don’t get Lyme disease from being bitten by ticks. Deer have antibodies that destroy the bacterium in the tick as they feed on the deer. The deer don't spread Lyme Disease, according to this study. 🍎 Last Friday, JB went on a grocery run in Smiths Falls. School kids from Duncan J. Schoular Public School - UCDSB (gr. 7/8s), were putting stickers on items for the Smiths Falls Community Food Bank needs, to promote the high cost of food for too many citizens. He cheered them on. People need to be earning a living wage, while CEOs, and the rich and famous earn obscene amounts of money.
He was so happy seeing kids out doing some good for the community! He explained that we donate monthly to our Perth food bank,
The Table. He gave them money to buy some food for their food bank.
🥀 The garden is greening up. I have candytuft blooming beside the goldfish pond, where Percy resides all alone. They munched the Candytuft at the end of the sidewalk. It IS growing back, but no blooms!
I've been weeding a little bit each day. Such is the life!
A dragonfly appeared, while we were watching for Fred Groundhog!
Fred hasn't been seen for a couple of days. I don't know it we've managed to scare him off, or not. He was still chewing on the deck on the weekend. (Look at the blue sky!)
The trailcam has been quite quiet, for the most part. The mosquitoes are horrid, and driving critters nuts. This young buck ambled through.

My outdoor baskets and perennials are doing well. I've even remembered to water them! We have a cold night overnight, with a front coming from the north. I may have to bring them in, but we'll watch the hourly temperature forecast.
