That was a storm. It lasted from Saturday afternoon to late Sunday night. I woke Sunday to a lot of snow on the back deck. I wanted to shovel it to get to the 'rain' gauge. This was 7 a.m., vs 10:30.

🛬There was a horrible crash at Toronto's Pearson airport Monday. A jet from Minnesota flipped over after landing. People were hurt, but of those 21 people were taken to hospital, all survived. One thing one has to remember when you are travelling south you need to have warm clothes on you in an evacuation. CBC has posted an article with photos.
We have lots of people who will investigate it and determine what happened and prevent it in the future. I wrote about the NTSB investigation in the U.S. of a plane/helicopter crash. The Transportation Safety Board of Canada will investigate, following protocols, and will invite the NTSB and/or the decimated FAA from south of the border. The plane is laying upside down on the tarmac, covered in snow and burned. Two runways are still closed.
Things to remember, when you are given a minute to evacuate and your plane is on fire, don't to an Instagram post to show us you using the emergency exit. Just sayin'.

You did have a lot of snow there, we just got a small bit from the last storm. I am glad no one died in the plane crash, it looks scary how it flipped upside down on the runway. Take care, have a wonderful day!
At least you have a place to blow the snow. I am not sure where ours will go in future.
I was thinking too about the people who fled from the nearly-burning plane into the extreme cold. When the plane turns over and you are hanging upside down “like a bat” you don’t have time to put on your coat! And it’s much too hot on a plane to keep your coat on for the entire trip. What a mess.
And the firing of US employees in the Forest Service has trickled down to those helping still with our disaster clean-up. The other thing on people's minds is the deportation of illegal immigrants which cuts families apart. And of course our farmers are hurting too. I just hope I get my Social Security check next month. After that, who knows! The upside down plane took the first 10 min. of national news...as well as a 2 min. hit of local news...so some stories that were to air got sidelined. I love The Contrarian for commentary and Blue Sky which showed lots of rallies full of crowds against President's who aren't (Musk).
It is hard not to be depressed with this weather and everything going on in the world.
The Toronto crash is all over the news here. That's so fortunate no one was killed and only 18 injured (not so good if you're one of the 18). Rick's on a plane right now, which they just drove back to the gate. Doesn't do much for confidence after five crashes in four weeks.
I remember a friend who travelled regularly to the very outback parts of Yukon, the passengers were told to have extra winter clothing, survival gear, one person needed to know what to do if the pilot became unwell, there was a rifle, food for 3 days, and something to start a fire.And I think it was a small plane, maybe 12 passenger size. She was one who always took extra gear. Evacuate, never mind about social media. And as for the new regime people, I,too, would not fly, and would seriously think about moving further north, Jenn, prepare for many coming to Canada.
Makes me glad I don`t fly anymore!

I have no use for those 2 at all. They are dismantling everything our country has stood for. Period.
Both storms, hitting one after the other, were bad.
