Feeding the birds leads to all sorts of critters. We haven't had many deer at the bird feeder this year. Lately it has been poor disabled Duke, with his dislocated ankle. He is doing better, navigating this awful snow cover, with its frozen layer and slush, somedays.

Thursday, Feb. 1st, we were watching TV at night, and Cinnamon heard a noise. He's been sitting watching the wall since the real cold began. We've mice in the wall, none in the house. We've had young mice other years. They learn there are cats, though. Here is Nutmeg in 2022!
That said, I went out front and looked for evidence of racoons. None. They don't seem to be awake yet. Going out back, I noticed tracks in the snow. I thought about it. They aren't very deep, and the snow was soft. It couldn't be a coyote. I couldn't see the tracks properly in the dark, but they were there.
Hooray for the Crumbly Acres camera. I thought of it as I was in bed reading. I used great restraint to keep reading and knew I would check it out in the morning. Such a search is not good for sleep hygiene! It turns out the fisher came by about 7:40. This is the first time.

Here is the cedar corridor in the fall. I trudge through in my snowshoes, and the critters tend to follow my tracks.deer cedar corridor from Jennifer Jilks on Vimeo.

We have a buck who limps real bad that we call gimpy. We did not think he'd make it through the winter, but far he's hanging in there!

I swear Duke is thinking he'd like to sprout wings and drop several body sizes!!! Despite the bad leg, he looks in good condition. YAM xx
Loved the dragon sitting there as the fisher explored!
Fascinating collection of critters!
That fisher on the cam is pretty cool and so is the deer. I saw the shake!
...we had a nice surprise this morning, a flock of five robins paid us a visit.
The trail cam picked up some good footage.
Really exciting stuff! Thank you for keeping an eye on Duke
Great! I really need to look through Google to find out what kind of creature your little animal is but now I know. I read that they are one of the few mammals that successfully hunt porcupines. Is that true? https://momentsfrozentime.blogspot.com/
You have such good results with your cameras.
I like that dragon too! Lots of WILD critters at your house!
The dragon threw me for a minute, haha. I really enjoy seeing all your creatures, love the shake.
Critters abound
A good collection of critters.
All the best Jan
Raccoons are out and about here and I have to bring in my bird feeders every night. Incredibly, we saw a road- killed skunk this afternoon. I don’t think I have ever seen that before. The phenology of so many creatures is changing.
I envy you the deer and other critters, but not the mice. Oh no, not them.
I don't think I'd want to see kitty fighting with a fisher! Nice nature flicks! Linda in Kansas
Some great footage!
How lovely to see the deer.
