Saturday's Critters

We are enjoying the bucks with their antlers. They will be falling off this month or next now that rutting season is done. We were watching King Charles (8 points) and Prince WIlliam (6 points) out the kitchen window when we saw a fisher lope by. Twice. It must have been going in a circle! It didn't come near the house, which is a good thing. They are a dark brown in the brown forest and very distinct.

Fishers <= I keep track of them here

I read, on The National Trappers web page, that fisher territory can be 10 sq. mi. for females, and 30 sq. mi. for males. They irregularly patrol, but travel pretty much in a straight line whilst on patrol. Males usually pass through a given area once every two weeks, while females vary from 3 days to a week. It sounds like this is a young female. It's all conjecture, but fun for me.

The fawns are so adorable. We've a very small set of fuzzy twins. They are quite small, compared to the other fawns.

We've 7 doe and fawns, plus three bucks.

Last, but not least, Labbit! I know it is a cottontail, but we've kept this name since our grandies were little. It's rather silly, but since Josephine is taking her first in-class driver's ed lesson today, we are nostalgic. Our family joke when they were little was, soon they'll be asking for the car keys, has come to fruition!!!

Hello,
I always love seeing the deer, the bunny is cute. I would like to see a Fisher, they are new to me. The deer are scarce here, I think the hunting has spooked them. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Take care, have a great weekend. PS, thank you for leaving me a comment!

My grand is now driving all over the place. JJ and her step siblings are using this to their advantage. 😊

Rabbit is out there with all the deer because he knows it is a safe place.

Cold dismal weather seems to be one’s fate — we are on the way back from Costa Rica where the colors are beyond vivid, and will miss it when we get home to slush. Good luck with getting a ray of sunshine (or more).

I know I can't believe my boys are all grown up and have gray hair already! One has white hair like mine. Love the fisher. What a beautiful animal!

the deer quietly sneak through my yard at night. I don't have a camera set up but I can see the tracks.

I love your fisher. The stats on the their territories is amazing. They must be on the move all the time.

I also love all your deer.

Those deer are incredibly beautiful animals but I would love to see a fisher in the wild. Bunnies we get every now and again, though come to think of it not for a while. Thank you for sharing your wildlife with us Jenn.
