January fun!

When I was a teenager, our family would go to Bondi Village Resort for the last weekend in January. We'd go skiing and have a grand time. It was so much fun. A great memory. I haven't been downhill skiing since teaching and going on school field trips. I did Cross Country skiing after I was married. I haven't gone in year.

Our grandies are all busy. In Ottawa, Josephine is taking Driver's Ed. Two weekends in a row, 5 hours in class for 4 days, plus homework. Then, weekly driving lessons with a  pro. Great fun! Next week she has exams. Only two to write, Math and French. She's never written one, as OCDSB doesn't have grade 9 and 10 exams.

Isabelle is going to do Aikido lessons. She wanted a sport where she could throw people around! She learned archery last year.
After that, both girls are flying to Florida to visit with their paternal grandfather and step-grandmother. Great fun!

This was May, 2013! They have grown so much. Both are taller than I am now.

Our Vancouver family is out and about, as well, on the mountain. Cluny and Bryony are out skiing with their dad, my middle kid Jesse!

What is Gramma up to in Lanark County? Falling down in the snow! I went for a snowshoe to fetch trailcam SD cards. The problem is the top crusty layer caught the tip of the snowshoe, and I went down. Getting up was tricky. I could have taken my snowshoes off, but they are awkward to get on in knee-deep snow.

I think these are fox tracks!

It is a tad chilly out there. I am happy to see the sunshine! I had to use the blower on the driveway, again.
In January, 2016, Papa threw some hot water around!

If there was no wind and the sun was so strong, that must have been nice out there on the snowshoes.

I have never been on skies. It does sound like fun. We got bird prints in our snow but no other animal prints.

Glad the snow was soft to land on, and you finally got yourself vertical ok. Loved seeing the ice-steam from the hot water! Such fun to hear about your family as always.

I'm glad you got up -- that's a heap of snow! You trailblazer, you!

The grandies are very busy indeed. As you are. I suspect if I had fallen in that snow I would have struggled to get up again. I am so very glad that you could.

Great fun Jenn, and wonderful memories. The younger ones these days have som many opportunities that were just not there for us.You did get to ski I guess, for me the first time I even went to the snow was as an adult with two young girls. We hired skis, and had not been up Mt Ruapehu for long when the siren went and the mountain was evacuated for avalanche danger!!!Love the hot water throwing.

Your grandies are like ours, growing up fast and keeping busy.
It's always lovely to catch up with them ...

That looks like a lot of snow you have, do take care.

All the best Jan

It's rather unnerving to see how quickly the grandchildren are growing up, isn't it? My granddaughter just got her license this year and is driving around. It's astonishing to me.

Darn! I forgot to tell my daughter and family to do that water in the air trick in Chicago. Art and I tried it a long time ago when we lived there but it probably wasn't as cold as it was yesterday.

Be careful out there! Maybe a one or a pair of ski poles might be encouraged to use when you venture out? Linda in Kansas

Sweet photos of the family. So nice to see your grands into all these activities. In my early 20s I went on skiing holidays to Austria with a group of friends. Always so much fun but I was never any good at skiing. Après ski was great, lol!
