Zoom, our food bank, critters

💻 Today, at 5 p.m. is the Committee of the Whole meeting for our township. People are presenting some final arguments, mostly against the proposed gun range. We'll check in on Zoom. The Planner recommends a deferral, as they await another report. What is interesting is that the a gun range falls under federal laws (RCMP) for safety requirements. It is the provincial Ontario Firearms Officer who gives the go ahead to the gun range if the local municipality says they meet local bylaws. The one proposed doesn't have the zoning for it. This is what the meeting is about.

🍌 I am really happy for our local food bank. It's called The Table. They do good work, teaching, and having community meals. Their online auction fundraiser was excellent! I checked in at 7:30 in the morning. Later, by its close, they were up a tad more. We donate monthly, which provides some stability.

🌬Yesterday was a tad chilly (4 C.). I did not spend a lot of time outside. Alberta was -23 C. on Monday – I won't complain. I've few photos. Thankfully, the deer are happy to be on camera. ⛈Rain or 🌨snow today. It could go either way. Either way, summer/4 season tires don't work well under 7 C., our snow tires are on!

🦌Down at the deer scrape, I managed to catch sight of the doe inspecting it. The bucks have been here leaving their mark.

The bucks have been active at the spot.

They clearly didn't like the noise of the wind. They cannot listen for predators.

And, finally, the deer dash away as JB walks by to get the mail.

They are not tame, by any means. Clover is the only one who doesn't run when we are near. Unless they are out front at the feeder!

It is somehow quite sad that in an era when we can send spaceships to the moon and bring them back we cannot find a way to eliminate the need for food banks and ways to take care of the less fortunate or able members of our society.

I can't imagine what it's like to have deer at your bird feeder. Our highs this week are in the 60sF, definitely not chilly here for December weather

Alberta, a friend's daughter lives there, a blog friend naturally.!! That's a tad chilly for me. Your 4C is even a bit too cold. Those deer, they frolic, graze, and entertain .

I hope the Zoom meeting goes well. All praise to your food bank - but how I wish they were not necessary.

Food banks are becoming lifelines for more and more people these days. Donating to others is so important when one has enough.

Good luck with the gun range and hoping the best for you all. Always heartwarming to see these food banks doing so well. Had fun looking at the videos again, with the photos. Thanks Jenn!

I saw an article. Apparently it is deferred. Sounds like at least nice councillor thought it was crazy.

We can't even get our Operation Holiday quota met, so you are very lucky to have such caring people who gave money to your Food Bank.

That's a lot of pumpkins and they don't seem to diminish even with the deer nibbling on them.

I'm all for getting rid of guns. It's getting worse and worse in the US.
