Momma doe and twin fawns, an update

Do you love watching wildlife?

At our house we put out a Bambi alert and run to a door or window!

We have a doe and fawn, as well as a doe and twins fawns in our forest. I took photos of them earlier, with a fawn being interested in our granddaughter's ball!

This is a photo of one of them on Sept. 15th.

Look how the spots have now disappeared in the photos below. They are happily eating grasses, just like mommy! I'm happy to see they made it through Spring, Summer and into Fall. Their live expectancy is only 3 - 5 years or so.

I was blessed with an early morning view of momma deer and her twins.

Sadly, we found a dead deer in the ditch behind our mailbox. I think it is the mother of the doe with a single fawn.

You can watch mom grooming her babe, still. In winter, the does and yearlings all gather nearby in their winter yard. The bucks gather separately.

what will happen to the single fawn? Oh dear.

Your book that I ordered weeks ago has been shipped so I will be able to pick it up soon!

OMG... They are so beautyful!

Sad tho to find one dead...

Let's hope the fawns make it to winter just fine.

Have a lovely weekend,

Gabi

Wonderful about the twins, Jenn, so sad about the mother of the other fawn.
Nature is beautiful but cruel sometimes.
Dick and Lindy are seeing lots of deer on their walks and, now that we have snow, we also have deer coming to our yard to eat our ornamental crabapples. I've seen their tracks, but haven't seen them, despite having a new window overlooking the tree.

You are fortunate to live in an area where these critters come to visit and know that it's a safe house.
The deer rarely come by my place but they are only a few blocks away.
