The 7 Wonders of Lanark County: #6 Silver Queen Mica Mine

Have you ever seen mica?
I have some. Neighbours dumped some blasted rock from a new cottage and these pieces were on the ground. Mica was used as glass back in the 1800s.
You can take guided tours down into the mine during the Murphys Point Park season.

Transportation of the day!
Congrats to the Boys of Burgess who built the shelter!

I haven't thought of mica for years, Jenn. This brings back a flood of childhood memories. Thanks!

I do have mica in my 'collection'--rocks and bits I have picked up here and there in my travels. I am enjoying the tour of the wonders of Landmark COunty.

You certainly have some excellent places to visit in your area.

My uncle remembers putting his finger through the mica that was the front of the heating unit in the old nursery...
