First frost!

Frost Warning for:
Smiths Falls - Perth - Eastern Lanark County
ISSUED BY ENVIRONMENT CANADA AT 12:05 AM EDT SATURDAY 17 SEPTEMBER 2011

Yes, it is true. The warning headline caught me off guard. I couldn't imagine another storm warning. Sure enough, it was a frost warning.

Me an' Buster had a run around the yard. Jack Frost's designs on the leaves... precious.

Remember this little guy?
Maybe you recognize this? Here s/he is - preparing for metamorphosis.
The final word: The caterpillar is Cucculia alfarata, camphorweed moth, feeds on, you guessed it, camphorweed, Heterotheca subaxillaris.

Our day temps have really dropped this week, about 17, but the nights are still warmish, about 12. But it looks like good news on the horizon. They are calling for four days over 25 next week. Maybe yes, maybe no. This time of year is so changeable. - Margy

It's true, Margy. It warmed up and we went out to an Open Doors event. Had to get out of the house. Poor kittens are stressed, with roofers banging away.

We are still waiting for our first frost. We've had some touches of frost like "On the roof" but not on the ground. I've covered things the last two nights.

Its been very cold here this week too, but so far no frost. It's just a matter of times I guess...

thanks for visiting today, you should definitely join one of the art challenges if you feel like, no pressure! Sophia's a darling at Sunday Sketches. I'm not a trained artist, but I've improved so much over the past couple of years of doing this and it's fun.
