Ottawa has the most deer collisions in Ontario… 1000 annually.
Road kill is ubiquitous. You wouldn't think it watching and listening to the speeds on our highways.
Mostly it is the wildlife that loses the battle.

The investigation revealed that the 36yr old male driver (Roch Pierre THIBODEAU of North Glengarry) was west bound on County Road 24, (near Blyth Road) when his 2001 Yamaha motorcycle struck a deer.
The male was pronounced deceased at the scene. A section of County Road 24 was closed as SD&G OPP officers assisted by OPP Technical Traffic Investigators continued the investigation.
Ontario Provincial Police closed the road for more than 8 hours while they investigated the crash. It re-opened at 6:30 a.m. to traffic.

Yes I am always on edge when driving through forested areas especially if vision is limited or weather is a factor. I can't imagine hitting a deer on a motorbike though - that is just awful. W.C.C.
oh this is awful, even in the city we have to watch for squirrels, they seem to be more aware of traffic these days.
Around here, it's mostly opossums [wild] and family pets in the city. I don't know WHY people let their animals run loose.

I absolutely hate seeing road kill. I am extra careful driving around dusk when animals are on the move after hot days. I can't even imagine hitting one on a motorcycle...my condolence's to his family.
