Moving has been quite fun.
Finding out new places to eat, play, shop, donate, volunteer.
Securing insurance, and all the utilities.
Figuring out how to run a new house.

One issue has been our wires. Now, Ontario Hydro hires professional arborists to take down trees that risk taking out power lines. Of course, having lived through Ice Storm '98, and 10 days without power, we love our Hydro folks. A hurricane in Muskoka didna phase us, although we invested in a generator there!
I have many photos of Hydro, the latest being the installation of new posts near to the Bala Habitat Project build!  It really is a High Wire Act!

In the 'good old days,' power line posts were shared by Ma Bell, too. There was an agreement that Hydro would help out Bell. That was in the olden days. Hydro came and checked out the wires. There are only hydro wires on the west side of the road. We, on the east, have to contend with Bell. The Bell wires are the ones that are supporting our one dead elm and other live trees on the east side where our property lies. Apparently, the Common Law Marriage has been annulled.

Hydro told us that their divorce is final. Bell was cheating, and not paying for her fair share.

Over we go to Bell. Ma Bell takes no responsibility for her own wires, must have been a different father, and tells us to phone the 'city'. The connection was so bad (I swear!) that I asked her to repeat the word. Yes, CITY.
Which city? We live 6 kilometres from a 'town', placing us in a village. Yes, she corrects herself. Phone the township. We did.

If the trees are within1 metre of the hydro poles, then they are on township property and they will take them down. Some are and some are not.
I'm thinking we should make another investment into the community and just pay someone to take them down. I don't know how to use my new chain saw yet. Plus, knowing that they are 'only' Bell wires and Ma Bell won't provide child support or alimony, mediation failed, perhaps we move on!

A dead elm, for sure.
