Do you remember the poor fawn with the wrecked up foot? This was Dec., 2023.

I found an in image of one with a similar injury a few years back, just like the injury back in December. Their legs seem so fragile. This was from another year, I'm having trouble dating it.

These are hungry times! This was a Jeopardy clue the other day: "women come and go / talking of _______ !"

We have young bucks, who look like triplets. We've a doe who had another set this past year. The males leave their mother, while the does hang out together. One buck has lost one antler, I'm still looking to see if his buddies have lost theirs. It is interesting the other two have not. Same environment, habitat, weather and climate, different hormone strengths.

Richard was sitting under the tree at 7:30 in the morning, chewing his cud, for a long time. Taken through the kitchen window, he sat in shelter under the tree in the snow. Jan. 20/23

Saturday's Critters

The Rogers power outage was quite a mess in Ontario and Quebec, as well as every major Canadian city. Rogers is one of Canada's cell phone providers – not ours, thankfully. A The Weeknd concert in Toronto was cancelled, as well as other things. Our kids were in New York city and had a couple of problems with charge cards, but they were sorted out prior to their flight to IST. There were 9 million wireless customers, and about 3 million cable and internet users who lost their communication.

JB and Jesse went to the bank to get some cash just in case. Interac wasn't working at many stores, as Roger runs them in Tim Hortons, McDonalds, and a bunch of other stores. Cash registers, payment systems. Also 911 went down in many cities. What a mess. Heads will roll!

Our Ottawa kids landed in Istanbul, Turkey, Saturday, July 9th. They were scheduled to leave JFK at 18:55, but it was delayed until 19:30, 20:30, 20:48, 21:20, and finally left at 21:25 according to Flight Tracker, after I was in bed. They landed at 6:33 a.m. our time, after 9 hours, 28 minutes, I was up at 6 and watched it. More adventures. They travel carry on only, just in case. There are a lot of people traveling. I anxiously await photos.

We have had a fabulous week here. More on Day 4 in a post tomorrow, but here is a teaser. Our SIL made the photo comparison to Angry Edith in Despicable Me, after I posted Bryony's photo to the family photostream. We were at the splash pad in Perth.

Today I take a break to check in with the critters. We watched Bambi with our visiting Vancouver family. Happily momma doe visited us after dinner last night. She was in the back, just where they both were hanging out July 3rd, when they were visiting with the Ottawa clan prior to departure. Sadly no fawn appeared.

July 3rd we saw our first fawn in the front yard. Momma dined on my hosta while the fawn frolicked. We were watching from the front window.

They were upset with Nutmeg, who was on the sidewalk underneath. They are clever birds, hanging out in the nearly dead Catalpa tree:
