Fred and miniFred have been out and about. I was happy to see them both at the same time, July 10th after a popcorn storm popped on by!
Fredlet is growing!
Those claws are made for digging.
I've been watching something going on in the shed. This is Fred's first wood shed burrow entrance/exit! Since the coyote snapped up two of her kits📹 and the fox came by , I've noticed the wood, in the upper left corner, falling out the back of the shed. That opened it up to predators slipping in silently. That's my thinking.
A couple of times I noticed the tarp covering up one of the burrow exit/entrances in the wood shed. This was the first time, June 29th. It had been moved and shoved into the hole.
The first time I pulled it out. Next time, she'd done it again. Not an accident. Noticing the tarp was stuck on the left, I released it.
She tucked it in!
It is dark and buggy in the shed. There was a dock spider, too!
And she pulled it in some more!
It took all my effort to pull it out, it was really stuck. Rather than have her ruin it, I covered up the hole and put the big container on top.

This is Fredlet, and we had a conversation!
I went around to the side of the house to grab the hose to fill the water fountain.
Apparently, there is another burrow...
This is Fred's burrow #7. It goes to the right, beside the cement block foundation. She is persistent. I've filled in #1, under the propane tanks, and #6 out front. How many holes do the two of them need?!
She is determined! I stuck a log in it.

It is a battle with the holes from the Groundhogs.
Happy Sunday, enjoy your day! Have a wonderful week!
Life with the Freds.
Just imagine, that the ancestors of Fred and family may well have been burrowing in this area long before your house was built. So they may see it as a great addition to their territory, providing so much ease to dig (less tree roots) and definitely some protection from predators. I'm so glad you all are the kind people you are...adding to the continuation of Freds!
