We are have terrible news filled with fires on this continent. Right from Canada's far north and south to California. Then there is the smoke. The weather smoke forecast shows fires on both sides of the border.
Fire & smoke forecast on The Weather Network:
There are so many factors that cause forest fires. Climate change, drought, ATV exhausts, arson, lightning strikes, winds spreading fires, and so on.
Congress members representing Minnesota and Wisconsin feel that Canada isn't doing enough to stop these fires. I suppose this hearkens back to the 'raking the forest' idea the orange felon suggested for California forest management. They sent a letter to our Canadian ambassador to the US, to get her to tell our government about this. Such arrogance! And a weird use of social media.
I figure these two white men ought to get their own acts together! The governors of several states were up here begging Canadians to travel there and spend money. Look at the fires and smoke in their states.
In the meantime: there are about 7,000 humans evacuated from their homes in Manitoba. I feel badly for those suffering with smoke, but many have lost their homes, livelihoods, and are displaced to cities, where life is difficult, especially for Indigenous people.
'Manitoba is now at 235 fires in 2025, exceeding average of 187 for this time of year, the province says'

I hadn’t heard much and was wondering how it was going: not well, apparently.
The Canadian fires haven't made it to the news in my area.
The fires are brutal but I think Canada has a better handle on them that we do. I hope we're sending people as they have done for us. The R congress folk from WI and MN should mind their own business.
This season seems to filled with wildfires and floods.
We do not have the brightest people in charge.
Take care, enjoy your day and have a happy weekend.
Oh no, the fighting is ridiculous. Get it together. Dreadful.

Oh dear..... crazy thing is there are some big fires happening among the heather here, too. I was affected by the smoke when up north. All too common now... YAM xx
We have been lucky the last few months with some wet weather so fewer fires and no smoke.
I saw about the fires, just terrible.
There's a lot of name calling but not much in the way of sharing plausible solutions.
The smoke is horrible here. It s supposed to last a few more days, sure wish Canada would get rain:)
I saw those posts from MN and WI and shook my head. Funny, I didn't see letters like that when western US had terrible fires and smoke came our way from them or from the eastern US.
Our politicians have really gone over the edge.
So sorry to hear about those fires and hope they can be contained soon. There are times politicians need to mind their own beeswax but sadly they will always be poking their nose where it is not wanted, and not doing enough where help is badly needed. My dear old dad used to say politics is a dirty business. I wish I could ask him what he thinks about this lot. No doubt it would be eye opening.
