Trip to Narrows Lock to go birdin'

We were there  Dec. 7th. This is what it looked like then. I know people like before and after photos!

Back we went last week, and you can see how the water freezes up.

I would have guessed the pictures were reversed. When I grew up in LA, December was colder than March. By March, local strawberries were ripe and available in stands next to the fields. - Margy

Lovely sets, I found one that was taken looking at the same trees, what a difference. Do you ever get tired of the snow and beautiful scenes in winter? I love every one you post.

It doesn't matter what time , it's always a good time to go birding. Swans are always a treat to find.

Swans lack their usual dignity and look rather comical while dipping into the water for a treat!

whenever I see a bird standing on the ice I am always worried they'll get stuck? No idea why but I do.

There's quite a difference, although both seasons at the lake have their charms.

Oh my! I'm feeling cold for the swans. I hope spring comes soon.

Couldn't recognize the bird butt until I enlarged the photo. It seems Yam recognized it right away.
Amazing differences between the two sets of photos, Jenn.
