Ice crystals on the bird bath

With a heater in the bird bath, everyone likes it, even Bambi drinks from it. I noticed, on some - 25 C. mornings, some beautiful ice crystals. Here is the video, just in case you missed it!

I'd spotted the deer sucking up some water at the birdbath.
The heater works well. I clean it regularly, thankfully!

ice crystals have formed!

With the macro lens...
I took a closer look. The darker water gives it a negative space quality.

Put simply, negative space is the area which surrounds the main subject in your photo(the main subject is known as the "positive space").

My Internet friend, Judy, has been experimenting, which inspired me. This opportunity arose for me. I'm an old dog learning new tricks!

How exquisite! I remember the Jack Frost masterpieces on the inside of our cow stable. We didn't take pictures of such things in the long ago but they are vivid in my memory. Cheers, Jennifer.

True fellowship with the animals, is a heated bird bath, you care so much, guess I would too. Love those crystals. Take care, hugs, Jean.

I'm sure the deer appreciate the water source. That one had quite a drink!

Astoundingly beautiful... on a recent nature show here a fellow was demonstrating such shots taken by cobbling an old macro lens onto a standard 'point and shoot' body; these are as good as his! Have yet to explore the 'supermacro' option on mine... YAM xx

I love ice crystals! I am sure the animals appreciate easy access to water in the cold frozen months. You sure take care of your wild brood. - Margy
