I love the changing seasons. These photos show the ice going out, with the wonderful birds returned for spring. The first are the mergansers. The Canada Geese were never far behind.
I told many stories about Eddie and Eva (e.g., SATURDAY, APRIL 4, 2009 "
It's your fault", a story about a snowy day!) This was a pair who returned all four years we lived there year-round. (April 2006 - September 2010). They returned with offspring and had happy times.
But seeing them each spring, mostly before the ice had gone fully, was exciting. You knew that spring was fully on its way!

Great shots of the geese. Love the wings open shot! Have a happy weekend!
How wonderful to have this family return year after year. So sweet!
Beautiful captures - I especially love Eddie preening.
We have several flocks of geese that winter over around here but it's finally nice enough that we're now seeing them drifting around in the tidal inlets.
Great photos of one of my favorite birds!
Jennifer,..I love the way to bring the birds to life as real friends. We do that with our visitors. I would love how you set up your blog. I love the way you have the pictures all across the page. I see we both use Blogspot so maybe you could give me a suggestion. Have a wonderful weekend. Hope you all are warmer than here in VA. I am FREEZING. genie
Awesome series! Love the shots of the goose with his wings open.
Great series!
The geese are so pretty!
Spring is slowly springing around here. It is wet and cold (for here).
I love how you are in tune with what is going on around you.
Now you're making me upset with your report of spring! and you sound so happy about it. I don't know why?
Beautiful birds! I love that picture taken in May 2010—such a sweet family!
I love your photographs! I've been trying to get some good shots of Canada geese for a while now.
I love the image of the gees on the ice floes!! And the crow? reflected in the water!!
What great captures of the wide wing spans. Spring? Is it? Too much snow still here in Ontario!
