Winter
season for the faithful
the lens, as the eye, squints
bright light of crisp snow
ceremonial stories by crackling fire
good friends and a glass of wine
loving and laughing
Mother Nature paints a special picture for us
she demands we have faith
the spring rainbow more brightly coloured
by Mr. Frost's memory of crystal snowflakes
snow magically transforms
vestiges of vistas
special shades of blue
birch trees a poignant puncutation
dead scrub wearing winter coats
the heavy weight of winter frost
sleeping hunch backed monsters
threatening our hearts and souls
blue shadows highlight frozen streams
prepare us for vital summer greens
pines look richer
the blues brighter
crystal water no longer
reflecting deep shades of verdant foliage
in emerald shoots,
buds, bugs, blooms, blossoms
eternal and diurnal
drink deeply from the present glory
while waiting for spring
then...the colour begins again

Beautiful poetry . I loved the line about having faith in the shoots to come.
The season is certainly testing my faith at the moment. Thanks for reminding me there is color to come.
Lovely poem and images.
