Don't panic - snow photos

These my last year's photo for this date: Nov. 18, 2008. Honest!

It is much warmer this November. Almost balmy. I thought this should be noted. Although, I did read...

First ice fishing trip of the season

Not me!
We have serious socioeconomic issues in Muskoka, Ontario, Canada, and the world. But that does not mean we cannot look around us and see the beauty on something like snow. Especially, since it has long melted.

The trees have lost their leaves. You can such much more than during the other 6 months with leaves!

This is what used to be an old resort. Now a private home.

I love it when the clouds let the sun peek through.
The docks were covered in snow, and the high water lapped the shore. I messed up the symmetry of the snow on the dock. I'm sure I'll have lots more chances of capturing THAT shot.

The frog pond was frozen, with a skiff of snow.

And the sun came out the next morning. Like the seasons, we can anticipate the change of the night to day. All will be renewed.

Another day will dawn.

It looked a little watery and cold last year.

I'm glad it's not as cold as soon as it was last year. I DO like snow but last year it arrived and didn't leave till March. Winter will likely seem much shorter this year because it's going to start a tad later. Nice photos!

You asked about the lens I used in my photos. I used a Canon point and shoot on the viper's bugloss - a S5 IS. I love to take this camera on hikes as it's light and I can easily tuck it inside my jacket if it's cold or wet.

What camera did you use to take these lovely winter shots?

Interesting, Stine! I use a Canon EOS Rebel XT.
I like a big camera. When I taught photography to students (I taught JK to gr. 8 Elementary!) I wanted one that was hefty, because I would give the camera over to the students - especially the ones with ADHD, as it gave them something to do. The schools have issues with cameras, teacher would not recharge batteries, they'd hog the camera, and I found it easier to just use my own with my kids.

Even with footprints the snow covered dock looks lovely. A beautiful place in winter. I like snow in photos....when it isn't at my house:-) Actually I always enjoy our first snow of the year. We don't get a lot of snow usually, so it is bearable.

Jenn, I am so glad this November is that little bit milder than last year!! With the snow starting so early, and last so late, it was an incredibly long winter!!
I took more goose photos this morning, and hope to have them edited sometime today!

Although I enjoyed your pictures of ice and snow, I was relieved to find they are from last year. We still haven't had a frost yet and I'm willing to wait longer for the first one to arrive.

That's the trick, isn't it, George? To be grateful for what is... I just wanted people to realize what last year was like. Every time we go into the Post Office people complain about the weather. It's what Canadians do!!!

Plus it draws people into the blog see what horror lies outside the door! :-)

What pretty lighting in your shots! "Don't panic" gave me a chuckle.
I'm a snow bunny at heart (and pretty scared about climate change), so Bring it on!, I say!
