Hormones, cats – part II

The two pals fell asleep. JB'd had a bad early morning with cats. You can read Part I here: Hormones...

I lost her later on. Here she was: on top of the folding chairs in the basement. Totally konked out.

The chair she got wet was a fabric office chair, and I cleaned it with one of the various products on the market. There are many brands. They do a good job. No worries. I've had three kids and grandkids!!! She hasn't had any more incidents.

JB went to the pet store for toys. She is missing her brother.

This is a funny scratch pad toy. The balls do not come out of the thing. JB was looking for treats for her. These scratch pads were 20% off, only $15. What the heck.

She likes to watch the birds outside, gets grumpy when I take her photo...

Nutmeg is roaring around the house. She likes the Muskoka Room! She is much more relaxed.

She is coming out of her shell. Here playing the mousie/foot stool game!

Cinnamon is quite happy at the Cat's Meow Inn, where he is cooling his jets until Snip Snip Day.    Cassandra posts photos of her clients just for fun. Annabelle is watching him!

He winks for effect!

Caitlin bought me a bird house! It's made from 1970 licence plates...

Merry Christmas to all who celebrate!

I went silly with the window crayons. If I'd planned ahead, I wouldn't have put it on the outside. We'll need a couple of warm days for me to clean it off.

We bought a turkey, and rather than putting it in the refrigerator, I put it outside on the back deck, with ice packed around it.

Also, the fridge thermometer to make sure it is cold enough. It was a lovely Christmas Eve.

I've been watching Christmas movies I've PVR'd. It gets me through the days. Christmas in Montana was filmed partly in Canada! Also, Christmas at Dollywood, which was filmed partly in B.C.

I also watched A Cheerful ChristmasFilmed in Ottawa, on the Rideau Canal, and Mill St., Mississippi Textile Museum, Cedar Hill Tree Farm, Cashmere and Rose store, Almonte. I'm happy to see all these Canadian sites. I have fun researching the locations. I add to the imdb.com website, as well! There was a very negative post on Facebook dissing all these movies. People do this every year. It is tiresome. Don't judge me and my choices, people. We're still looking after our health, and I'm happy to take it easy.

I suspect this is in Dunrobin!

The cats are getting closer to one another.

For the first time, Nutmeg perched on my foot rest, then settled on JB's chair. She helped me wash the kitchen floor, as well.

Hubby was downstairs watching some DVDs. Two days ago, we watched United 93. Seriously. He was heavily involved, as he worked for Air Canada at the time. Several of the air traffic controllers played themselves, so it was quite realistic from that point of view.

The kids are coming over in the afternoon. We'll see what fun we get up to. They had Cornish Game Hens for dinner yesterday, with their respective brother-in-laws. Jesse and the grandies visited us in November, from Vancouver. My youngest won't be here. We are estranged. C'est la vie. It's good Caitlin can take him in. He's healthy, at least.

Critter reports and spring - sort of...

Mother Nature, fickle she be. Only a few days ago the sun was shining. The frog pond is half thawed.

Annabelle and I did some work on the goldfish pond before the Monday snow.  Can you see her? She's quite camouflaged! The goldfish pond is also about half melted, but it doesn't look good.

Rest easy, Geraldine.
About 6 goldfish and several frogs are frozen in the ice.  Geraldine floated up dead, as well. I'm so sad. I've removed 3 goldfish, and three frogs, more are frozen in the large chunk of ice. It stinks to high heaven, I tell ya! It's not a deep pond, 2 - 3', 6' long.

Our bullfrog turned up in 2012, when we thought 'she' was a 'he', and Jesse named her Jeremiah! I weighed her, and she was 469 grams! They reproduced in the frog pond down below.

Daisy is happy with the grass appearing from beneath the snow.

Annabelle likes the flower box, with the fake poinsettias, but she was thrilled with the tree house.

I uncovered the fountain.
Buster wanted to be king of the castle!
Can you see him on the top?

Daisy found a mouse. Annabelle kept getting closer and closer to the action. She's still not a full-fledged member of the tribe. No mice were harmed in the activities. It got away. Typical!
Daisy (middle) found a mouse, but earned the interest of her sisters.

Indoors, outdoors, a little of this and that

3 cats – they're getting closer!
Nothing like boxes to keep them entertained.
Daisy took the high road.

5 cats

It was a cold, but lovely day for a walk (~  -20 C.!). The sun was shining. I had no buddies, although Buster was on the front porch in the sun. He wasn't inclined to venture into the breach that day. He's still recovering from his intestinal parasite, I think.

Annabelle is slowly fitting in. They aren't thrilled
Moment of world peace.
Sady in her bed atop the table.
I was in the chair, Dorah at my feet,
and had to powder my nose. I leave the footrest up.
Annabelle quietly asserted or inserted herself into the chair.
with this stranger in their little hierarchy, but I'm making sure to give extra lovin's and much brushing for the others. She has glommed on to me like a little monkey.

Sady is the worst grumpiest, Buster is the least affected. Just hissing a bit, establishing a personal space! Daisy is a bit worried.
Buster and Annabelle touched noses, at one point. I am confident they will integrate her. In the meantime, she sleeps between us, where Sady was sleeping in the bed. Sady is a little ticked off. She won the placement off of Buster.

MY ANTLER

My antler!
I was very excited that Bambi left me an antler! It's that time of year when they don't need them, the blood stops supporting their growth, and they drop or are knocked off. Two bucks were antler-wrestling (like arm wrestling?) , which I captured on video, and, perhaps, that is what did it. Do you suppose they are itchy, or just irritating, like my granddaughter's last loose tooth?!
*My* antler the day before!

Wasn't he nice to leave it for me?!

It was a cold one. I bundled up, with several layers. I even had to undo my coat at the neck! A yearling hunkered down in the sun under the tree. Annabelle, on my chair indoors in the sun.

My Walkies

There were some angel wings in the snow. Actually, the Wild turkey doing something important.

Trailcam

Big Daddy seems to like the trailcam, he keeps doing some photo bombs. I switched it from video to photos. It tells the temperature: -10 to -24 Tuesday night. Heaven knows why the last photo was taken. Snow? Wind? Ghosters? I keep seeing things in the forest as I walk. just out of the corner of my eye!

You can compare the size of Big Daddy's antlers with his younger friend. I don't how we will tell them apart once the antlers drop!

Broken ankle

Our poor deer, with the broken ankle, is still hobbling around. She favours it, licks it, and hobbles along.
At the end of the day, a sunset
