Staining the decks
I have stained it (in 2020), but that has worn off. Winter is harsh.
- clear the decks, as much as possible (can't lift the BBQ, plants indoors, furniture moved)
- use a power washer, wash the mold off
- buy my stain ✓ (done Sunday),
- watch the weather, it requires temperatures above 10 ℃ for 24 hours during drying time.
This deck needs replacing.
I love these orchid spiders. They changed colour.
I may have a few more cucumbers this season. Maybe.
The cherry tomatoes are doing a second fruiting!
🐁 I was cleaning up some of the ivy that is taking over the area near the shed. I started the lawn tractor inside the shed, and a mouse ran across my sight line, then ran across the lip of the doorway while I was backing up. When I back up, there was a snake. I told mousie not to run towards the snake!
She was peeking up through the discarded fronds.
The last of the flowers are in bloom.
🐀 I think Fred has gone to her winter burrow. Last sighting: Aug. 15.📹 Last year she disappeared Aug. 14th, when the cooler nights began. Soon, many birds will flock and migrate.
The good news is it looks like we've rain on the way.

With a home there is always something that needs doing. We need to replace the driveway. Great to see the orchid spider. Lovely creature.

Great shot of blinking little guy...not the usual snout of a mouse to my memory.
We have a deck with one new board. We never bothered to stain the deck.
We have a wobbly fence that needs repair, it's always something isn't it?
We don't stain our deck either.It is cedar and has gone a nice shade of grey.
I've never seen an orchid spider but how pretty.
I do hope that the little mouse made it's way distant from the snake. I'm guessing that replacing those boards is a big chore, but the new boards will last a very long time and you will be glad to have this done. Things around you still look green and those little tomatoes are going to be so good once they ripen. good pictures of all the neat things around your house. I hope Fred has her place well hidden from any dangers..
It's been raining here most of the day so far, and considerably cooler.
Home repairs and upkeep is hard when you get older:(
Household maintenance is never ending. We are well behind. Love all your sightings and am glad that rain is on the way.

Surprised Fed goes into hibernation so early. The old males of Richardson ground squirrels have hibernated now.
