Flowers!

It's been lovely getting into the garden, as long as I put on my bug hat and apply bug spray. I've gotten some energy back and found some motivation. Weeding has been tricky. I don't have so much worry with weeds, as plants taking over. It's time to be tough.

The phlox is blooming, but it is one of the culprits in overtaking the garden. Lots of critters love it.

Beside the garage, where Fred was digging burrow #7, I've been putting the pulled weeds. It's all construction sand, and no good for plants. It's good exercise flinging things. I used to love playing softball!

Then the lilies keep on bloomin'!

This is our cherry tomato plant. There are 4 plants in there, 2 tall, 2 dwarf. Overkill?!  I think we might have 4 or 5 wittle bitty pinky/orangey/reddish tomatoes. You go look, Joe!

🎥 TV Movies

With the heat, once I feel I've done as much weeding as I could, I am happy to sit down and watch something just before I make dinner.  We watched this together. Prime Suspect (1991) Helen Mirren – she is amazing! The BBC does some good stuff.

My mother and I would sit down together and watch a movie in the afternoon, if I was home sick from school. Joe's been doing a lot of research for shows we can watch. He finds some I'd like. This one, Prime Suspect: Tennison (prequel: set in 1973) I found terrific. I'm going to read the series once I'm done my current book.

I hope you don't have too much heat, fire, water, or smoke in your part of the world. Too many are being evacuated, too many lives lost. Look after one another.

...enjoy your flowers and butterflies!

It's so great to see the abundant flowering at its peak there now. Our day lilies have succumbed to the heat and only are memories now. Same with hostas. Roses are on second blooms. It gets darn hot most afternoons.

I saw Tennison when it was on PBS -- it was pretty good. Loving all your flowers, especially the phlox, which I always think is so pretty!

The lilies are remarkable this year. I'm glad mine are not bursting forth at the same time....longer time to enjoy them. Your yellow ones are HUGE too!

It's great you're getting back into the garden, even with the bug hat and spray. Your well wishes about the heat, fire, water, and smoke are appreciated. Take care.

We are fortunate to this point. We don't have smoke. we are getting some badly needed rain.

I miss my phlox I had in Missouri. Yours is lovely and so are the day lilies.

Prime Suspect is great. We’ve watched it more than once. I don’t have great vibes from Tennison, but they aren’t bad either, so I guess good but not great.

Beautiful! Love all these flowers and I am grateful for the reminder on Prime Suspect. I used to love watching that series and am about ready to watch again. The prequel is new to me. Stay cool up there, hope everything is okay with you and Jo. Those fires and other disasters are very sad with what everyone is going through. You said it perfectly to end your post. Let's look after one another. Love that, we really need to don't we?
