Cold, snowy days...

We're rather chilly here. It's the time of year to cocoon, and find some treats.

Joe is finding all sorts of goodies at the grocery store. Oranges from Morroco.

I am afraid to open the can on the right. It's been in the garage, and froze. Water expands when it freezes.

We keep bottled water in the garage for emergencies. We can't get water from the well if our power goes out.

I had high hopes for the Amaryllis. That spot of colour is wonderful.  Sure enough, Feb. 17, Feb. 19, Feb. 20.

My fix for the fish tank has been pretty good. At least, I have lost any fishies! The plexiglass I placed on top works well.

Time for outdoor play. I decided to go fetch a trailcam to thaw it. This snow is deep on the lawn.

See the camera on the tree?! Now, I could have retreated and fetched my snowshoes. I did not.

The only problem was the snow was above my knees. I don't think my snowshoes would have helped.

The purpose of that adventure was to see what was on the camera and to thaw it out. This was Sunday...

Then, I ran out of gas!

Dang, that is a LOT of snow. We used to get good snow here too but for a few more days we will have some and a huge change in temps is about to come.

Nice videos!

I love the idea of having one's own private snow plow... right up there with the ride-on mower!!! YAM xx

Glad the snowblower seems to have a self-drive so you don't have to push it into the high snow uphill! That's still a lot of work, I imagine. Definitely don't open that can!

The blooms on your Amaryllis plant on so rich in red colors. so pretty as well as the snow...the beautiful snow. Your winters must be pretty hard, but I know you love being able to capture all the wildlife on your cameras, playing in the snow. I think that Bubble is about to burst.. and goodness, those oranges looks so good...hopefully they are sweet. great videos. Hope you have a wonderful weekend Jenn.

It truly is a beautiful sight but from watching those videos of you clearing the snow, tremendously hard work. Your other photos showing around the house, the pretty red amaryllis, is a tonic. I hope it heats up for you all soon.

Way to go with the amaryllis and its beautiful, deep red colour.

I just rescued a bunch of waterbottles from the car I bought for Cork Poppers. 40 was cheaper than 12 (go figure) but storage is at a premium so I left them in the trunk. Now I have lots of ice water and most are inside thawing out. I did discover that those I wrapped well in the trunk in blankets stayed "wet." Good to know!
