It's still winter!

The mailbox was a bit of an issue the other day. You see, the snowplows go by, and either they take out your mailbox, or they swerve around and you cannot have mail delivered. The rule is that the mailbox must be cleared for 6' on either side of it, as well as in the front. We get mail delivered in a little right-drive truck from a nice woman.

I fixed it up with the snowblower. Tricky work, with cars and trucks zooming by at over 80km/hr.

Meanwhile, down in the peaceful meadow, on the trailcam you can see the deer come and they go! I don't know why the photos are pink, something to do with light levels.

Off I went for another snowshoe. No birds, except I could hear some chickadees. There is evidence of the porcupine chewing on bark.

This is an interesting part of our property. This is the old road. You can see the current highway to the right. Back in the day, the road was carved through, and they straightened it out. It was years ago. The trees have only partially grown up, with the deer nibbling the little saplings for sustenance.

Back down in the forest, the dock is nicely buried under snow. This is good, as the frog pond will have lots of water for the spring mating and frog egg-laying. In the meantime, they sleep. I wade through the snow.

Dreaming of summer!!! Here is the dock in summertime. I'm just about done with winter...

And the problem with snow around the mailbox is that it can be so densely packed.

The dock, just as well you have marker poles there. Keep on wading through, all this will come to an end sometime.

Your trail through the woods was maybe the old highway, a rural road, pioneer trail, aboriginal trail and at one time a game trail. Now you walk through it.

While we may be done with winter, winter is not done with us.

The mailbox is often a problem when you have a lot of snow...the plows make it so much worse!!
