Dignity House Day Hospice

Room 217 Foundation donated CDs
Robert and Helen Black

With great excitement, the Open House was held for the Dignity House Day Hospice, to be held in Perth, Ontario at McMartin House. Prior to the opening, Alanna spoke and introduced staff to each other.

Alanna is the Nurse Coordinator, with Dorothy Mercier, and nursing student Shelley, as back-up. Volunteers include Barbara, Trude, Carolyn and myself.

A maximum of 6 clients will be welcomed with a keen crew. Carolina Suites will provide a hot lunch.

First order of business, Alanna introduced us all.

Randy Hillier MPP - Lanark, Frontenac, Lennox, Addington spoke to the group.

Many people have worked hard to achieve this goal, but especially Nurse Coordinator, Alanna Scanlon. We had over 60 visitors.

Tea cups, a special part of our day
The program begins next Monday, January 17th. The goal is to fundraise to be able to build our own 24/7 hospice. Visit the web page for more details.

Clients will be able to visit from 10:00 to 3:00. The program runs on Mondays.

Our complimentary therapists were there, as well as many health care professionals, including PSW students, from the community. Several guests received hand care from Lotus Wings, in Perth. They will be providing complimentary care to our clients twice a month. In addition, Beth Fequet, RMT, of Inner Waves Massage, will be offering therapy the third day of the month.

We'd love teacups. The plan is to have a tea cup for each client each time, with their name on it. Then, once they pass over, we will give it back to the family.
