It's a new day; a new dawn...

Her new owner has picked up Daisy. I'm recovering. Happily, her driver was JB's cousin. Small world. Her new life, with her new mommy, begins. Our stress is over, trying to protect Hooper from Daisy's jealousy.

In the evening, Hooper came into the room, carefully eyeing the spot where Daisy's dog crate had been sitting. He sat on my lap. Later, getting down, he went over to sniff the spot.

This morning, it snows. It's cold, and I made a fire. Usually, Daisy would assist me. Instead,
the other two cats, Annie and Hooper, were playing happily in the basement. Life unfolds as it should.
I know I did the right thing, as difficult and emotional as it is.

Hooper, funnily enough, seems to know he is free to explore. He took over Daisy's favourite spot on top of the fish tank light.

In the meantime, our phone is still out. I contacted hubby's cousin on Facebook to make arrangements for her to escort Daisy's new mom. Weird that. Such a coincidence. There were many hugs and my tears. It was comforting to know she is in good hands.

The phone has been out since Tuesday, will be out, they predict, until Jan. 31st. How do I know? I couldn't find any info online, until I went to Twitter. You see, online there is an option for a Live Chat, but they never have someone on that. Instead, I spotted a @Bell_Support Twitter handle and copied them on my message.
That got the attention of Bell.
They asked me to direct message them, and they asked for my information.

I've got carpal tunnel from killing Angry Birds. Caitlin and Tom are amazing at it, my two buddies. I saw this on Twitter regarding Angry BIrds: stupidity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. I have to change my strategies!

I tend to finish 2nd, for some reason. I used 1500 gold coins (which you earn during the games) and still didn't win last time around. It was great to really concentrate on something else, rather than rehearsing Daisy's transfer.

I tried going for a nice walk in the sun, yesterday. Wearing my snappy boots with the cleats, I'd forgotten that there was ice in our little ditch. Boom. I came indoors.
I think I'm over the hump. I've been waiting to watch This Is Us. A tear jerker series, which takes me away. I made  it through. The tears heal, and wash away the sorrow.

I hope you can appreciate the texture of the buck's coat. It's thick and lush.

It's a new day; a new dawn... not that I can see the sun. Another snow storm. Well, good exercise!

If you feed them, they will come

Deep sigh. Still no phone. It's been out since they sliced through a cable Tuesday afternoon. Thankfully, we use a different company for Internet and TV!

Thursday afternoon, having negotiated hubby's cell phone (fat thumbs), and misdialing, twice, I made contact with Daisy's new mummy. I broke down, talking to her. She sounds like a good person. That's all anyone could want for an animal one needs to rehome.

I've never rehomed a cat. We had a kitten, once, a Manx, with no tail. She kept jumping the fence and hanging around the neighbour's bird feeder in the city. We gave her back to the shelter. That was different.

Daisy likes to pray when she plays. We're sending her with this toy, her bed, and

Anyway, I went walkies with Hooper, except he pooched out on me. He climbed a tree, pretending to be a bird. A blue jay landed above him, and laughed.

After having 21 deer, the big buck has been play fighting in the yard, and letting me photograph him. I know there are settings for navigating a dark brown deer on white snow, but my patience is gone, and I'm stressed.
He was looking up at me, I was on the deck. Hr was quite calm, so he's a frequent visitor. I'm hoping he will leave me an antler, but I'm not optimistic.

This doe and yearling weren't phased by him. I'm wondering if this is the doe he bedded in December.   [Our big buck! who was mating with a doe in December. ]If so, she's probably pregnant.

I'm thinking this buck is one we named Jake, last year. [Breakfast and bucks– Jan. 17, 2018] If you compare the tines, they look similar. They grow the same shapes every year.

After the blizzard: rain

It's been a crazy week for weather. Beyond temperatures swings of -29˚ to C. We had a dump of rain, after the snow.
The turkeys have been lurking. They are so funny to watch. Once food is plentiful in summer – we will seldom see them.

In the backyard, the deer...  I counted 21, including Our big buck! who was mating with a doe in December. We hadn't seen him since. He's my header this month.

The yard was full.

If you are so inclined, this is a panorama of the yard. Much entertainment.

After 9 cm snow, we had 7.6 mm (3/10") rain on top of the snow. The 'Colorado Low' storm changed over from snow to rain, as it brought warmer temperatures. We decided to use the snowblower and clear the driveway and sidewalk. I spent a half hour chipping ice off of the sidewalk afterwards.  It's always a crap shoot. Shovel or not to shovel!

This was the sheer ice on the driveway. Hubby made it into town for his injection. This was good.

Daisy

We have found a woman to take my Daisy, on Saturday. I am relieved, sad, anxious, grieving, angry, betrayed, and tired. A basket case. All of that. I keep thinking of the forest pal she was, following me in the deep snow, in my snowshoe tracks. She is six years old. We'd go out on the frozen wetland.
Yet, she now attacks both her siblings. I've taken her off her sedative medications, I don't need to fight with her every day to shove a pill down her throat.
She is going to learn to be an indoor cat, in an apartment. In the meantime, her new owner is on vacay for two weeks, so back to the kennel she goes. Peace will reign here, again. Off her meds, she's been after both cats.

Daisy and Dorah playing with the toilet paper roll in 2012. They were rescued with their momma and litter mates, and we took the last two left at the vet clinic in Carleton Place.

Hubby's gone into town to get me a Kitchen Sink for breakfast. What a guy. We don't keep eggs in the house, so this is a treat. It does me two breakfasts. Filled with veggies. Comfort food.
We had another 1.5 cm snow this morning.

After another storm!

Yes, another storm:[ After the storm Jan. 23, A big snow storm! Jan. 21]
Crikey! So, no power for a couple of hours on Tuesday afternoon . Hubby had to fetch wood and start a fire. He is featured on the trailcam, along with his friends! I felt badly, as I'd had a fire going for him to watch curling in the basement all week, during this cold weather.

Wednesday morning, as has been our routine, we feed Hooper, let him outside to play (an hour!), and let Daisy out of her dog crate to pee. Hooper came back in, and JB put him in the office. Daisy sat outside the door, ready to pounce. Dweeb. She hunts him down.

Our storm ended up dumping 9 more cm of snow.

The snow stopped, and then weird little square ice pellets... Overnight it was plain rain.

The phone has been out since after the power outage – the outage a planned repair, that we didn't hear a thing about. I was trying to phone Daisy's possible new mommy.
I went on the website. It looked hopeful, but I had to create an account. Hubby had to fetch the bill with our account number.

Next, they say to troubleshoot on your own, unplug all devices. (We have only TWO working jacks...another long story. ) Leave them out for 60 seconds, and plug in the non-electric phone.
When I finally managed all this, I saw a 'chat live' option. No dice.

Finally recharging hubby's flip phone, I got through to Bell, after a menu list that'd frustrate a patient person. I am not patient, and pretty stressed over Daisy, who has betrayed our blended family. Our phone should be up, they finally told me, by Friday at 10 p.m.

It makes an interesting sound...

Our sidewalk is melting ice. We decided to blow the snow, with rain expected.
Today it rains. This system is rolling on  up the continent.

More snow is expected after the rain changes with the Colorado Low.

Someone has a cancer treatment this morning. We'll see if this happens.

I have a client this afternoon. We'll see if this happens.
School busses have been cancelled all week.
