We are having cold nights, Fred will soon be going to her winter hibernation burrow. I'm not sure where that is, maybe in the ditch, under the highway.
A look back: milkweed Fred!
The last sightings of Fred with miniFred together.

Oh, Fred! I have proof!
Fred's been climbing the fence and munching my flowers!
Did you know that groundhogs can climb trees?

I have not seen miniFred since then. Meantime, I think I've discouraged Fred from the front. I tried the tarp. I was worried minFred was in the hole, but I think not. She's either taken off or been someone's lunch.
It's all the circle of life!

Awwww.... gonna miss Fred when hibernation hits! YAM xx
Your sharing the circle of life with Fred and coyote is commendable. I notice coyote doesn't get named, however!
I am going to believe that miniFred has gone to find her own territory.
I love your banner with all the green grass of summer. Hard to believe it will start getting colder soon. It would be funny to spot one of these critters up in a tree!
Fred is looking nice & healthy in thanks to your flowers. I'm surprised to hear it's getting cold again already? Is that typical?
I hope Fred is fine.
Hello,
Wonderful collection of Fred and mini Fred photos.
We have one here that climbs our fence and eats all the morning glories. Thank you for linking up and sharing your critter post. Take care, have a great weekend. PS, thanks for leaving me a comment.
I always enjoy seeing Fred.
What fun to see Fred enjoying life :) Hoping that miniFred is okay but, as you say, it is the cycle of life.
Fred is adorable and I hope she’s not anybody’s lunch.
I hope mini Fred has just taken off because he/she is mature enough.
Stay well Fred, you bring lots of joy to those that watch you.
Fred looks absolutely adorable – and very hungry! 😄 In Austria, we don’t have groundhogs (which my garden plants are probably thankful for 😉). Instead, we have naked slugs – not exactly fun either, and certainly not as cute as little rascal Fred! 🐾
The animals that resemble your groundhogs most – but are much smaller – are called Ziesel (some kind of ground squirrels). If you're curious, you can see them in these older posts of mine:

There’s such fascinating backyard life at your place – even coyotes come to visit! 🐺 We recently visited wolves and met other critters as well…
Warm greetings from Austria,
Traude
