PART CXX
We motored on into Ottawa for what's become an annual trek to Joe's urologist. Happily, his quarterly injections have been here in town. His PSA tests will be once a year, as well.
We had to leave at 7:45, which for a couple of retired old farts results in a bad sleep the morning of.
Imagine my surprise when we had to divert due to construction and a closed road. Not so bad in rural Ontario! Gillian GPS wanted me to cross back over the river and I refused, knowing where I was. Not only that, but once around that construction, I realized I'd programmed the Civic not the General Ottawa Hospital. Oh my. We're not failing!
Original Sin
I sat at the park and tried to read Jake Tapper's new book on former President Biden. What a tale. Many have dissed it. I was amused by those complaining about him flogging it on every CNN show!Biden's family tragedies seemed to be the beginning of his decline. The premise is, that the president was unfit to run in the first place, but the party faithful and his family blinded them to the fact that the man was in decline. His cognitive issues were covered up by all. There was a powerful group who controlled his actions, wrote his speeches, and kept his public visibility hidden.
People misjudged whether to convince an 80-year-old to cede power, and put the country before the president himself. The authors write of the Biden White House administration believing that he was the one to defeat Trump. Until the debate.
But he's not the only politician. There are other people in power whose cognitive decline was covered up, or the individuals, like President Biden, don't know what they don't know. We have all heard of people who are trying to convince adult parents to stop driving. What irks me is that Kamala Harris had no chance. As with many presidents, they fail to mentor or give their vice-presidents a chance to shine.
Back to reality today. We've 21,000 people evacuated by horrific forest fires. Things in California are on fire, as well. It is truly shocking.
Speaking of battles, I may have won with miniFreds 1 & 2. I'll have to do the lawn today. I hope it doesn't terrorize them!

Detours can lead to surprises - some of them good! I know lots who've read that book - a confirmation of what many strongly suspected. Not entirely sure how that serves us now... YAM xx
Glad you made it home after the various detours. Have fun mowing (wear lots of bug and sun protection!)
I hope the appointment was a successful one. Around here you have to add time to every trip you haven't made in a bit because something is always under new construction! Biden was far from the first to be declining (Reagan is the classic example). His story is a bit tragic, very King Lear-like, and especially sad because of all the very good things he did.
Hello,
I tend to leave early always thinking traffic would be horrific.
You did have some nice views along the way, I like the canal.
T,rump is not right in the head either, the things he says sound down right crazy. I hope we have a better candidate in the next election, if there is another election. Take care, have a great day!
I do hope that his appointment was good and encouraging. Those big city detours can become so stressful. Glad you all made it home safely. I am enjoying all updates on Fred and the crew. So sorry about all the fires..My prayers go out to all in those areas... Happy Wednesday.
I am impressed by your bravery in driving in city traffic.
Whew! What a tough morning, I'm glad you made it home safely - and I hope today is more restful.
you know what is really amusing? we were at the General, yesterday morning and diverted back out of the city on Baseline. may have been in the same line of cars.
I have started relying on my Maps app to tell me the travel time and plan accordingly.
I am glad you have that appointment out of the way and hope the results are good.
Happy mowing.
I hope the appointment went well.
Sitting in a parking lot is a good people watching place. And sometimes you don't like what you see.
