Sunday morning, -2 ℃ at 7 a.m., frost on the back deck. The clouds were expected to roll on by. They did, and we went up to 17℃ .
I ambled on down to the frog pond and dock with Joe. I had to show him what was going on. I think McGregor Muskrat is back. You can see debris it has stuffed under the dock edge. And on between the open slats. They were here last year: McGregor Muskrat, but while I got a lot of trailcam footage of Butch Raccoon, a , a weasel on the dock, Booboo bear June 13 , they seemed to disappear. It's not a good location!
I leave cracked corn for the ducks.
In normal previous years, they've built 'push ups' with plant materials. It was wonderful, as it opened up the over grown pond. It gets filled with frog bit and non-invasive phragmites.
Yesterday, we took a long drive searching for Chorus Frogs. We'd previously visited 4 sites, and went to see our other 6 assigned sites. I do not anticipate ANY Chorus Frogs there. It was pretty, but not suitable Chorus Frog sites. Joe drove, and I navigated. He'd park.
Signs of Spring: the daffodils in the daffodil garden, tinged by frost, are still growing. Aster and I planted them years ago.

A large Leopard Frog hopped across the backyard while we watched. It was a big one, and easily noticeable from the deck. It's SPRING!

...I'm glad that it isn't Elon Muskrat
Sunday and Monday put an end to our snow pile.
Hello,
I like seeing the frogs, it is still too cold here.
Take care, have a wonderful day!
It must be spring if frogs are out & about.
Wonderful camouflage for frogs and deer , they blend in so well. Stand still and do not wag that tail with white, and you could be a tree, until you move.
Welcome to spring, alive in your area.
You mean MusKKK ...? Never
Definitely spring - which is always a joy.
This is so exciting! Thank you for sharing Jenn
We listened for Spring Peepers last Saturday...didn't hear them yet. Soon I would think. Your Spring is coming faster than ours.
Oh how I love hearing the first frog songs of the year!
Muskrat!
It's Spring - be joyful.
All the best Jan
