Saturday's Critters

What a week it was. This morning we woke to several cm of snow. This morning it is -7℃ and a tad cold. It'll melt this week, as we expect above zero temperatures.

Barred owl has been a regular visitor! This was March 14.

I went back the next day and found an owl pellet! I dissected it to find out what s/he has been eating. Probably a vole!

They eat a critter, and cough up the bones mixed with fur in this pellet. 

Archie has been around!

Cardinal, spam, Cinnamon

Archie, our lone 🦃 turkey, seems to have disappeared. I wonder if the coyote finally managed to get him. Usually they travel in a flock in winter. There is safety in numbers. It's the circle of life.

The contact paper is working on the cardinal. He lands on the railing further down, but doesn't poop on the stair railing. Progress! 

This is a new level of spam! I just found it weird. Back in the day, prior to COVID, publicists would send me books to review. I'm still on their lists, which have been sold to dipsticks like this. I have to keep reporting them and blocking them. They don't have the unsubscribe buttons as is required.

Indoor play is good! JB had a good play with Cinnamon.

In the background, purple finch are singing for love! March 1st. The cats were out for their morning romp and the deer were stamping in their direction. Our snow is nearly gone.

😸 Cinnamon and I went walkies on Sunday. Not only was there lots of action on the trailcams, we spotted...???!!!

Saturday's Critters

 Our deer trio, Momma and twins, resting and chewing their cud. This was prior to our 11 cm snowfall on Thursday.

Por Duke, with his broken or dislocated ankle, is quite hungry. This is all the foliage that is around these winter days, cedar branches.

Rain, snow, and walkies

 💉 JB had his cancer treatment Tuesday, his Lupron injection, at our local GP's office. We are good for another 3 months. I drove home from my client's house in a snow fall on Tuesday. It kept on snowing! 

🌡 This is really messing with my head, the upsy downsies. We had a massive melt and then a deep freeze, again.   It was 10° C. Tuesday, Wednesday it was -13° C. this morning it is -15°, and snow covered, again. We expect a snowstorm tonight, too.

This was from Feb. 10th. I'd climbed the ladder to try fix the drips. There was a bit of debris, which I removed with my metre stick.

The moss was green. In February!

I told Cinnamon it was cold and snowy, and he didn't have to come along. He didn't come any farther, and went back up to the house. I am quite certain he had an encounter with the fisher, and he's really careful.

Feb. 8, when JB opens the garage door, prepared to throw out some deer food, all eyes focus on him. Even Archie, the turkey.

We saw the sun!

 We were onto another series on Amazon. It is called Origine (Origins), and takes place near Angoulême, France. It features views of the river Charente and it is beautiful. I like the listening to the French language and reading the subtitles, I am remembering some of my long-lost vocabulary. 

Anyway, in Season 2 they replaced the female lead, Mickey Sebastian with a younger actress. The chemistry is gone. We won't finish it, as the plot didn't grab us either. Ageism rears its ugly head as the producers messed royally to switch out respected mature, gifted actors with youth. 

We began a very dark Italian TV series: Thou Shalt Not Kill. There are no lighter moments to relieve the tension, and I find such a difference between this and other series. Ciao!

Speaking of videos, the town of Perth, ON, has begun posting YouTube tourist marketing videos! I don't know if you are interested, or if you want vicarious travel, as I do. It is a pretty town.

💐My Amaryllis now has three white blossoms! The Alyssum I seeded is coming along VERY s-l-o-w-l-y. I intend to put it into the terrarium. We shall see. 

My orchid has two long blossom stems coming out!

Here she is! It was a fundraiser for our local provincial park. The first photo is how the artist displayed it. I shall have to find a place for her. 

I cleaned my other heron, brought home from Halifax one year. Cinnamon seems quite concerned!
