May 10 – Nest building has begun.
2022
May 13 – House Wren 📹 on the front deck.
May 14 – lots of nesting action in the backyard. Nest box is filling.
June 18 – they were working on the eavestrough and the birds gave up for awhile.
July 1 – They must have fledged.
Second nesting
July 12 – They began to go back to the green nesting box.
July 13th – more action in the green box.
July 16 – House Wren action!
August 8th – you can hear the chicks in the nest, begging for food. If they hear me, they suddenly get quiet. The girls were here for week 36 of Gramma Camp.
August 19 – they fledged! We were away.
August 20 – I cleaned out the boxes.
The house wren is a new bird for me. They have been busy taking ownership of a wee birdhouse.
I've been watching them from the kitchen window.🐣🐣
So was Hooper! Watching them, I mean. It is a perfect location for the nesting box. We've been here 8 years, and the only other guests were chickadees one year.
House wrens eat insects, beetles, daddy long legs, caterpillars, spiders and other bugs.
May 29 – still around, stick poking out of the hole.
June 8 – lots of singing, at the nest, the female was in it. No eggs.
"Because they're cavity nesters, House Wrens thrive around buildings, yards, farms, and other human habitations with their many nooks and crannies."
