Cat TV, snowy days

Cinnamon was sitting at the window, as he is wont to do. There are birds, squirrels, deer, who visit his yard. You'll have to look carefully, but #75 (gray squirrel, black morph), stands out in the white snow. Can you see him? Just to the right of the snowy bird bath and baby bear.

I tried to photograph him, but he is so quick.

Then the real excitement, as he scurried across the front deck.
Off he went, but Cinnamon was vigilant!

It is calm and peaceful during the storm.

Another session on the driveway. There was 20 cm at the end of the drive from blowing snow. It was slushy where it took some work. It clogs up the auger and requires some effort. BUT I did it!
What a great machine.

I transplanted these two small evergreens years ago. They are doing well.

Legally one is required to shovel off one's vehicle. I've seen some funny memes around that. There are fines for carrying an 'unsafe load,' which includes snow on your car. This is a funny memory from Parry Sound in 2009.

The Ontario Highway Traffic Act fines:
  • No clear view to front or sides — $110 each (ice or snow-covered windows).
  • Insecure load — $160 (snow or ice flying off).
  • Deposit ice or snow on roadway — $110 (from your vehicle or other property).
  • Careless driving — $490 (knowingly operating a vehicle without being able to see or having the snow cause a collision directly or indirectly).

After my work was done, I had a shower and made us each a mug of tea. I was cold, and settled in under my warmest blanket (it was a gift!), and read my novel. I'm reading them all in order. The mug was a lovely birthday gift.

I like to find a series, go back to the beginning and read them in order. This set is the prequel to the Prime Suspect books.

Hello,
I feel sorry for the critters out in the cold snow.
That vehicle should have cleared the roof of snow.
That looks crazy. Take care, have a happy day!

Glad your snow machine is so efficient. I've been like Cinnamon, but we don't have many critters to watch, so just trees, a few birds (no feeders because of bear visitors)...and an occasional person. I'm patiently waiting for the next novel in a series from Libby, our library source. Have a couple of non-fiction still to work on.

Tennison was a great tv series — Prime Suspect. I’d be tempted to rewatch it.

A mug of hot tea is just what you needed. Thank goodness Jenn for a machine that can surely help clear this much snow. Keep Warm...

I think #75 is trying to be brave enough to knock on your door for spare bird seed. I wish we had fines for snow left on top of cars. It's scary getting hit by it when it sometimes has ice within it. I saw an article about a truck stop that had a device you could drive your semi under and it would remove the snow. Linda in Kansas

Good job with the snow blower. The cars are hilarious, I had no idea there were fines - but it makes sense. Mr. #75 is going strong :)

Our neighbouring condo building snow removal people keep blowing the snow right at our windows so we have to be vigilant and go out to stop them.
The city is crazy as you can imagine. So much snow and nowhere to put it.

Thank goodness neither of us got as much as Toronto!

Nothing is better than a nice hot cup of something and a book on a cold day.

You're still in good humor with all this snow.

I live in the suburbs and have a two car garage so the driveway is quite wide, and the sidewalk, that I have to clear. I don’t have a blower so I shovel it. We have had so much snow this year that I have done it nine days out of the last eleven. It’s getting to the point there’s nowhere to put it!

I was going to ask you if that was a Prime Suspect but you anticipated my question. I've loved those two series but never read the LaPlante books. OK -- another on the list. Love watching cats watch birds!
