An ode to the snow

7"
we woke to rain
it more than dribbled
on grass so green
the deer they nibbled

pretty quick
the grass was gone
buried in snow
poor little fawn

such a change
from fall to winter,
the snow it fell
the branches splinter

the weight of snow
it all piles up
good work, toots
we shovel walks
it won't dry up

across the roof
the flakes they flew
it all hangs o'er
to the wazoo

it took an hour
quite bundled up
in scarf and parka
we lifted up

the birds arrived
their wings aflutter
This. Is. Mine.
I heard them mutter

All sorted out
they took turns sharing
I refilled feeders
gone is swearing

Driveway’s done
but snow’s still falling
my butt to bed
I will be hauling.

It wasn't so bad. We didn't have anything to rush out for! We just did a little, then spelled each other off. It fell all day, after 5mm of rain in the morning. Ah well. We need the precipitation!

Nice ode, Jennifer. After breakfast I'll be swinging the snow shovel myself.

It's good to keep the spirits light.
