Geese on the move

We were driving to Almonte for bird seed, when I spotted the geese in the water filtration ponds. Of course, we had to stop and take a walk.

This is a drive-by shooting, out hubby's window, from my passenger seat! Thousands of geese have gathered.

The path is lovely, I've taken photos there before.  Across from the Auld Kirk and cemetery, is the water treatment plant and the MVFN Trail Potvin Tower, although Mississippi Mills birder sites abound. There are some old, old trees, and the cement brick remainder of an old building.

The sound was amazing. There were thousands of them!

I still have never been on that trail.the last time that i drove past the Kirk i looked on the pond side, and all of the access points seemed to be barred.

It's tricky to spot it. This is the entrance! Hope that helps!
You just park on the side of the road. It winds around the field, through the woods, and goes out to follow the field again!

They seem largely gone from the city. On the Thanksgiving weekend I was around Dow's Lake and they were making a whole lot of noise like that, which they only seem to do during migrating time.

Could these be cackling geese? They are a division of Canada's but shorter necks and much smaller.
