Rehoming the frogs

The recent rains have put some water in the frog pond. It was bone dry.
Then, there was the 4.5 cm of snow!
We have frogs in the goldfish pond, as they sought the only water in the area.
They should be sleeping in the mud. The temperatures have been very variable. You can see the frost on the berries.

Annie, Daisy and I caught some frogs and rehomed them, especially the leopard frog with the missing foot.
Annabelle, especially, was the biggest help. She knocked the bucket over three times, to better chase the frogs.
These are summer photos. You'll note how dark they are, in later photos.

The goldfish pond is tricky, since it can freeze and thaw in winter, and this isn't good for the frogs. I try to move them. We took a total of 9 down, a couple of leopard frogs, several greens, too. The next day, also warmish, there were another 7 but I'd hurt my knee and couldn't do anything about them.

Down we went. They are on their own!

Down at the pond, I checked the wood ducks nesting boxes. I found an egg in one. I guess there was a successful brood I didn't spot! Also, a wasp nest in one of them!

Back, up at the house rechecking the goldfish pond, Dorah was staring off into the forest. They are very much in tune to the forest sounds. It was just Daisy,  slow to return after our outing.

A frog rescue. I love it. We done that for a few turtles but it's been mostly dogs including Lily our present GSD.

You wonder what the frogs think of the cats.

This is the ultimate in TLC for frogs!!! They should be all right down there, and find places that do not totally freeze over? Maybe? great helpers.

The weather has been odd this fall so I guess the frogs are confused.
