Mice friends we have known

The joke is, that the cats want out in the dark to play with their 'mice friends!' This arose from a week crack in the corner tile of our Nepean kitchen ceiling (circa 1982!). My daughter, Caitlin, used to say that her mice friends lived up there.
I've captured photos and video of the shrew they caught. We often, as do many of my friends, have mice friend offerings on back porch or front step!

Since I cannot film them other than when they are dead, I take advantage of the offerings, and take close-ups. I am fascinated with their little claws and their little teeth.
Not picky, they have found deer mice and field mice. This is a field mouse.

"Mouse friends"! Cute!
I once had a mouse party.
I found mouse evidence in one of my kitchen drawers, so emptied out all the cupboards and sent my cat Herman in there. My little dog, Nina, followed him in, but neither of them found anything. So my neighbor's teenage son and his spaniel came over, and soon they were all trying to fit in the empty cupboard under the sink and where the drawers had been removed. No luck, but eventually someone solved my mouse problem by other means.
But, every now and then, for a year or more afterward, the dog would bark at the cat and run to the cupboard, as if to say "Come on, let's have another party!"

There must be a bumper crop of mice this year. So far I've caught 14 in the past few weeks inside our garage. Another one got inside the walls of the house. It couldn't get out and died. Now our bedroom stinks!
I could certainly do with your cats .... they'd have a field day inside our garage!

A vole in a bowl is better than a mouse in a house ;) I use the SmartCatcher 2000, a metal live trap then take the critter to the park for release, praying it doesn't find its way back :)

I have a friend down here who likes mice. She has them for pets. They are interesting.

Aw -- what sweet kitties to bring you such lovely gifts. (Better than birds!)
