Happy Thanksgiving!

Special celebration change over the years, but this one was a good one. JB went to the market and bought me a table centre. It's a real pumpkin, with oasis inside, and cut flowers.

My white pumpkin #2 was the turkey.

We sort of added a few Hallowe'en things, as well! Josee is a witch for Hallowe'en, Izzy a Zombie!
We had a Facetime for a preview last weekend.

My pumpkin painting didn't work out so well. The 'How To' video looked easy peasy. Oh well. Daisy cheered me on.

I saw this strategy for mod podging a white pumpkin. It was beautiful! I went down to our local store and picked one up. As I stood there, thinking about it, a woman came out of the store.      "Oh, but it's white," she said. She had much disdain in her voice.

"Yes, it is, isn't it lovely?"
"But what colour is it inside? Is it orange?" Totally confrontational. She wouldn't lay off, either. I didn't know, nor did I care.
"What colour is it inside?" She kept at me.
I said, "Just don't." She spoke again. I kept on looking for another pumpkin, I wanted a blue one!
She was loading her car, and kept questioning me.   "Just don't." I repeated, not inclined to be engaged in an argument.
It took me a couple of hours to calm down.

Here we are. The rose petals faded. The petunias totally faded. I don't have a lot of flowers left. It wasn't a total success.

I had another bit of a stress trigger, so I thought I'd just paint them. I think I made it worse. sigh.

The kids arrived after lunch on Saturday. I basted the turkey and broke the baster. Again. I cooked the turkey upside down. I wish my parents had taught me all this. Instead, Dad would swear at the turkey, while he stuffed and trussed it. The turkey was fine, though. JL carved for me. We had broccoli, roasted potatoes, and Caitlin's stuffing. Yum!

While the girls played, we worked on the bird feeder, and put the summer chairs in the shed. It's so good to have help! JB took photos!

We had a wonderful visit. Lots of fun and lots of laughter. After breakfast, Sunday, we took a walk in the wildlife park, and then the kids went home. All that for a subsequent post! I gave Josee the camera for the first half of our walk, Izzy for the 2nd half. There are quite a few photos!

A walk was a lovely family event. Quite a few people were there.

I saw this on a Marilyn.ca show. It's simple in middle age, isn't it? pppfffttt
