We were in Merrickville for a concert, part of the Festival of Small Halls series. Having had dinner by 6 [Merrickville, for your dining pleasure] and the concert doors opened at 7, so we went for a walk. We've often wanted to visit the ruins, but we were there off-season.
They have kept this turbine. It's rather interesting.
It operated in the power station from 1915 to 1993. This is an 'Industrial Heritage Site.'
The Heritage Merrickville Foundation took over, partnering with Ontario Hydro and Parks Canada.
This shows the site as it used to be, with a tannery, the mill, etc.
