Who goes there?

I heard a Pine Grosbeak, according to Merlin. This one sounded like it was in the big pine tree out back. I've no photos that I can find. Just a photo of the purple finch. Whaddya think? Close enough?! 😉 The purple finch and house finch always give me trouble. Now I have to worry about the Pine Grosbeak!

The doe was on a mission.

These two hang around all the time. Once Spring arrives we won't see them.

I saw these tracks, and wondered who was out in the night! 🦨

Skunk videos
Scanning the trailcams, I found some answers. The Crumbly Acres camera doesn't capture small mammals too well.

I caught it as it went along the driveway, headed across the highway.

I wrote a piece about animal tracking for our local lake association! Soon the snow will go and we won't know who goes there!

Another snowy day!

The cats were to go in for their annual exams and shots. We deferred it to a day without 7 cm snow.

It was quite a snowy day
I noticed a rock I that wasn't very snow covered. Turns out it was Labbit chewing dead weeds and plants.

I posted photos of little Nutmeg the other day. This is her quiet spot. She didn't get the memo that I was washing sheets!

This is their daytime spot, in the sunshine.

The cats get pretty tired squirrel and bird watching! I had 4 house finches, amongst others.

There are two pairs of cardinals!
The two males at the same time!

We finished off 🎥 Darby and Joan (AU) this week. The new one is a 6-show series: Protection (UK 2024 - miniseries) 6 episodes. I was quite happy to have a hot shower and put my feet up having done the driveway and refilled bird feeders.

The feeders are gone, the hanging baskets are out!

Rose-breasted grosbeak
I've kept the feeders going, while the birds are nesting. They will, eventually, disappear. traveling to other places. In the meantime, it's fun watching them.

You never really know how many there are, until they appear at the same time!

They battle amongst themselves for a spot, and the grackle has suddenly appeared. The blue jays are such bullies!

Bye-bye feeders. The bear is here, as I reported yesterday! I will miss my feathered friends. I put up hanging baskets. The first I planted myself, it needs to grow some. The lovely lobelia planter, I bought on Mother's Day. The red hanging basket was planted with pine all winter. I bought some plants two weeks ago, and hopefully it will be lovely in a month in the sun and warmth. There are red and white petunias, as well as geranium.

In the meantime, the birds are so sad. No sign of bear last night. So far. They seldom come back, ar, at least, destroy anything, once the feeders are gone.

Bumble bee!

FOUR in one shot!

The cats sit on the deck and watch the birds up above. I made Annie two collars, as she is so camouflaged with her colouring, sitting on the brown ground in the leaves.

Daisy was up to no good. With the feeders gone, the birds were on the ground at the pile of old seed. Fortunately, they are fast! Soon the birds will be gone.

A chickadee was gathering cat fur for a nest. It was under the tree.
