Day 4 Friday dawned. I woke at 6 and fetched trailcam SD cards, then watered the garden in the coolness of the day. I managed less than a dozen mosquito bites. 😜 Despite their late bed time (yay vacay), Cluny was up at 6:45! She watched one cartoon, then I gave her a buttered bagel and strawberries. Then, Wild Kratts! The one about blue herons, and another about speckled trout.
We managed to have a swim. SUMMERTIME!!!!

Our Ottawa kids went to the show, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child in NYC. They dressed up! They biked through Central Park, and visited the Empire State Building. Friday they traveled 9 hours from JFK to Istanbul, after an epic wait on the plane in JFK waiting for take off. They are experienced travelers and we texted back and forth.
I took the YVR girls for a walk in the forest. We began by checking out the goldfish pond. Then there was a sit in my big chair. They fed the fish, we counted 7, still. That is good news.
These are a combination of my and the kids' photos. Such fun.
Through the arbour down to Bambi's meadow.
The frog pond is now grown over, there is still water, but the native phragmites have won. They'd put on long sleeves, and Stacie sprayed bug spray on their shirts. The deerflies are the worst now, but the mosquitoes are still around. They were troopers.
From there: Stacie found mouse holes, and a red-eyed vireo nest.
We decided to take the girls to the Conlon Farm Splash Pad. It's a lot of fun!
Their Nana told me they were thrilled to hold the animals.
