Our Vancouver Family – Day 4

Day 4 Friday dawned. I woke at 6 and fetched trailcam SD cards, then watered the garden in the coolness of the day. I managed less than a dozen mosquito bites. 😜 Despite their late bed time (yay vacay), Cluny was up at 6:45! She watched one cartoon, then I gave her a buttered bagel and strawberries. Then, Wild Kratts! The one about blue herons, and another about speckled trout.

We managed to have a swim. SUMMERTIME!!!!

Thursday, this is Jesse's video from the bench swing where we watched them.

Our Ottawa kids went to the show, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child in NYC. They dressed up! They biked through Central Park, and visited the Empire State Building. Friday they traveled 9 hours from JFK to Istanbul, after an epic wait on the plane in JFK waiting for take off.  They are experienced  travelers and we texted back and forth.

I took the YVR girls for a walk in the forest. We began by checking out the goldfish pond. Then there was a sit in my big chair. They fed the fish, we counted 7, still. That is good news.

These are a combination of my and the kids' photos. Such fun.

Through the arbour down to Bambi's meadow.

The frog pond is now grown over, there is still water, but the native phragmites have won. They'd put on long sleeves, and Stacie sprayed bug spray on their shirts.  The deerflies are the worst now, but the mosquitoes are still around. They were troopers.

From there: Stacie found mouse holes, and a red-eyed vireo nest.

We decided to take the girls to the Conlon Farm Splash Pad. It's a lot of fun!

Both parents are actors, so kidlet faces are priceless. Drama Princesses! Jesse is now a financial planner, and they are both artsy and smartsy.

We were done, and it was time for lunch. We had driven in in two cars, and we drove home, while the kids went to McDonalds to pick up some take out lunch to bring home. This was during the Rogers telcom outage, and there was a long line-up for cash only. The debit machines were down.

Our neighbour invited the girls for a special tour of their barn. They were so excited! That was so kind, for a busy family. They work hard, and volunteer in the community. They drove over, the car was full, as the bugs on the driveway and highway are merciless. I stayed home and cleaned the goldfish pond pump and watered. We are so dry. I was going to do laundry, but I was tired.

Their Nana told me they were thrilled to hold the animals.

A good day was had by all. More tomorrow!

What a fun filled day, I can see the hens and rabbits were a huge success. The internet, Flight Tracker, txts and more, how easily we keep in touch and you can record the little ones as they so enjoy every day.

So much to love here -- especially the photos of you three by that interesting tree. I'd crop that down to better see the wonderful faces. Love the pink. I'm glad all are having a wonderful time!
